Congratulations! Looks like Atlanta is doing its best to keep its title as the slowest office in the country! Houston, Boston, Seattle, Santa Ana, NYC, are all slow (sorry if I forgot some other slow ones), but Atlanta is impressively slow!

I wouldn't particularly worry yet. This is not typical even for atlanta. if you look at atlanta n400 timelines across the web most people are getting their interviews in a reasonable timeframe. The difference occurs when there is an issue with your case whether real issue or just a procedural snag. Cases cannot be scheduled for interview until they clear background checks; as such some cases like mine that are not being handled promptly get stuck either with the FBI for background checks or between the National USCIS office and the Local office in this case Atlanta. After much delay 10 months I scheduled an infopass with Atlanta and Atlanta told me that the case was held up at the National Benefits Center. I called USCIS customer service and they told me that Atlanta hadn't scheduled the interview so each one of the two groups was blaming each other. I realized at this point that my case was stuck in the USCIS bureaucracy. My two options were either contact my congressman or the USCIS Ombudsman office. I opted for the later since the issue was inside USCIS. Within two days of contacting USCIS ombudsman office my case was scheduled for an interview. If you experience unusual delays either your congressman (or woman) office or the USCIS ombudsman office can help shake the tree and get your case moving again. Hope this helps

Good Morning VJ families , As of today my wife is a US citizen . She took her oath ceremony this morning 04-10-2015 . We arrived at USCIS field office Atlanta by 7.00 am and her appointment was at 8.00 am . We never received her oath letter by mail (may be lost ) we knew though her oath ceremony is for today , from all the advice here we call USCIS and request them to fax her a copy that letter , we showed them the fax and field office staff did print us a copy of the actual letter we jump on the letter and filled where needed , then we proceed to the purple room 2nd floor . In there was another officer waiting and checking her letter and she went in the huge room by 7.45 am where the ceremony will be performed . In that room there was another officer she collect her oath letter and green card , My wife was given an assigned seat number so she proceed to the seat . There were at least 152 new citizen sworn in this morning . Room was packed and just by 7.50 am relatives and friends was allowed to attend the ceremony . Sharp 8.00 am ceremony started and last for around forty fives minutes . She was given her citizenship certificate and we stay back took some memorable pictures hugging and celebrating . We left the office by 9.00 am . then we started a new final step after citizenship requirement .

1. We went to update her social security status . 15 mins

2. We also went to Dept of Motor vehicle to update her License status as well as register her to vote . 35 mins

3. We went home make 2 copies of her Citizenship certificate (for our records only)

4. we went to post office and applied for her new passport . (our neighborhood post office is walk in for passport application ) 20 mins .

By 1.30 pm we reach home all happy and did accomplished everything she need to do .

Am so happy our journey is over finally now just need to wait for her passport delivery (we chose standard processing with overnight delivery that due to us not receiving of her oath letter (may be lost ) we don't want to take any chances lol )

Just want to thank everybody here for all their guidance and expertise . I was a wonderful journey sometime stressful but with all your help we did succeed in our goal .

For all who is in the process of getting naturalized , good luck to all and a stress free process .

Sincerely ,

Sajeed

Congratulations Sajeed! Good to hear everything worked out well.

On the other hand I completed my interview on 2/23 and was placed in-line for Oath Ceremony on 3/3, but haven't heard anything since! It's been almost 6 weeks since being placed in-line for Oath and I'm not sure if that's normal. Keep in mind that I have requested a name change so it seems scheduling a court ceremony may be the reason for this delay??

Thoughts?
