If he was shot for holding an air rifle, its murder. If he was aiming the rifle at people and refused a police order its justified.

So what you're saying is that the two groups least likely to commit crimes are also the least likely to get shot by the cops? I think we agree on this.

ETA: I'll go out on a limb here and say that if you break the law, you have a better chance of being shot by a cop. Who woulda thought that?

If you are Asian and don't lower your weapon when told to by the cops you will be shot 90+ percent of the time

If you are Hispanic and don't lower your weapon when told to by the cops you will be shot 90+ percent of the time

If you are White and don't lower your weapon when told to by the cops you will be shot 90+ percent of the time

If you are Black and don't lower your weapon when told to by the cops you will be shot 90+ percent of the time

If you are predisposed to seeing boogeymen then perhaps there is a way to see it as anti-black but from where I am sitting the problem is with your analysis of the situation and maybe you should look at your own bias.

how am i predisposed to seeing boogeymen because i want the police to exercise caution when they have their guns pulled on someone? when they have their guns pulled on someone over one 911 call? in the middle of a walmart?

and i might be biased against cops, but i see just as much bias when it comes to excusing unnecessary police force. marvin showed two cases where a white guy tried or actually took a weapon from a cop. those guys are 'lucky' and this guy should've known better. sorry but there's no balance to your view either.

If your idiocy is to be waving what looks like a deadly weapon around in public and ignoring police instructions to put said weapon down, then I have no sympathy for you.

For the officers who have to live with taking you down because you were an idiot? Them, too.

Who is brushing it off? Certainly not me.

Safe handling and situational awareness are imperative when you are handling a firearm. These need to be drooled into anyone looking to use a firearm - and that includes air rifles, pellet guns, etc. Anyone not displaying either doesn't need to be handling one.

And not complying with an instruction given by a police officer who has his weapon drawn and pointed at you, no matter what the circumstances, is just plain idiotic.
