My heart sank when I saw the video. Not only did it not prove one ounce of what people were saying to justify the shooting but Crawford running back and forth in fear was sad to witness.

Now they need to charge that "ex marine" 911 caller with something serious.

I cannot speak to the level at which Mr Richie ( lets call him George Zimmerman 2.0) was out of his mind stalking a man who he suspects as being a threat complete with his wife in a cast and a electric scooter.

Ritchie told several reporters after the 5 August shooting that he was an “ex-marine”. When confronted with his seven-week service record, however, he confirmed that he had been quickly thrown out of the US marine corps in 2008 after being declared a “fraudulent enlistment”, over what he maintains was simply a mixup over his paperwork.

Ritchie said that it was his own heart condition that saw him discharged from the US marines after joining in September 2008. He insisted that he had disclosed the condition when signing up. However, he claimed, “my recruiter never turned that paperwork in, so they considered me a fraudulent enlistment” when officers later discovered the condition

You are right.

I don't know the answer to that, but the description by the Special Poresecutors of the forensics of the bullet path left me more confused than ever on how he exactly died.

My understanding is he was shot first in the left side, under the arm. This is when he goes flying behind the shelves (most likely from the bullet/surprise). As he got up and began running towards the officers he was shot a second time. Stupid to run at the officers but who knows what they would have done. According to his gf he yelled "it's not real" I would suppose sometime between the first and second shot. Maybe he was thinking to show the gun to them to prove it wasn't real. The mind works very strangely when you are in that kind of a situation.

I went back and watched the video a few times. After watching it a few times I can see why the police shot,considering the info they had.That is if they just came around the corner and had not seen his actions for 30 seconds like we can all see on the video. He was swinging the gun back and forth and when the cops surprised him the gun was swinging up and he turned towards the police.He was just startled.

Still a sad deal.

When you watch and listen, you hear the shots (8:26:57) and then screams (8:26:59) but nothing prior to the shots. I'd venture to say that if the audio from the caller captured the screams (which would appear to be from the victim) then it should have captured the commands of the cops as well. But there's nothing there. That's odd, isn't it? It is also odd, however, that the victim first fled from and then charged the cop. All that - if the audio is properly synchronized - happened after he was shot.

Looking at the footage, I don't really know what to think. The one thing I am sure about is that this fella behaved unbelievably stupid with that gun - toy gun or not - in the store.

I have yet to watch a video with audio, do you have a link to one?

The last part of your post is spot on.

Another thing I found weird is that Crawford simply picked that gun up off the shelf. Why wasn't the gun in some type of packaging? Do they normally sell those guns right off the shelf like that? If the gun was packaged in a box, this whole incident probably wouldn't have happened.

I can't tell if they gave any instructions before they shot him. But it looks like they shot first.

I listened to it yesterday and I cannot make out any commands from anyone prior to the first shot being fired. The screaming of the victim (that's an assumption) is audible as is the gunshot but nothing in terms of commands from the cops. Hard to tell, though. The audio of the 911 call was allegedly synchronized with the video footage but all it takes is for that to be off by a second or two and for that screaming not being the victim but a terrified spectator closer to the caller. Who knows?

There was something yelled out by the cops just before the first shot rang out, it did sound like they yelled "drop the gun". Immediately after that Crawford starts to wave the gun again then he is shot. I do agree that these cops appear trigger happy and more of an effort should have been made to get Crawford to drop the gun before firing on him.

It looks like he was shot from behind. When he was hit, he flew forward.

Definitely not shot from behind, it appeared the side to the front. He started to turn and look at the cops before they fired. He fell backwards and to the side after being shot.

From what angle the cops came running in, his back was to them. But if they came from both directions, that's possible. I can't see it from here, but I'll look when I get off work.
