I don't believe anyone would disagree with that.

Chances are none of us here had anything to do with that, and that really isn't the point. The issue is that all of us here have to deal with the consequences of generations past.

The misunderstanding which is used as a red herring by many is not that you should feel guilty, so much as you should be able to recognize that through no fault of yours an entire class of Americans were denied many of the opportunities we always took for granted.

It would be ludicrous to demand anyone to be held responsible for what happened in the past at this point, but we are responsible for what happens in the future. Just because our ancestors got it wrong, it doesn't mean we need to shrug it off as though it doesn't affect us today. Just because a law was enacted in the 60's it doesn't mean the playing field was leveled to everyone, because it wasn't. As a simple matter of moral honesty none of us can really keep a straight face and say that black Americans today have no reason not to be on the same level as their white counterparts.

I can't speak for all here, but I'd imagine there are some who would agree with me.

I am not saying blacks haven't had it rough for the past 150 years or so in America. But guess what? I had NOTHING to do with that. Can't change what my ancestors may have done to blacks (though with our history of barely getting by, it prolly wasn't much).

In my lifetime, the only time for which I feel any responsibility, I have done nothing to keep any other human down except hold a job since the age of 13. I have held my friends (black, Hispanic, Asian, whatever) in the highest regard. I will do anything for just about anyone; that's the way I was raised.

and if you read the article, the lawyer and john crawford's father have viewed the tape. the police are releasing information from the tape in a self serving, non-linear manner. does this sound familiar?

Not only that, but there have been countless social programs over the years to help black folks out, yet they still have the same percentage of folks blow the poverty line that they did 30-40 years ago. Why is it that immigrants that come here ( a lot not even knowing the language) seem to do well? Some of it probably has to do with the fact that they don't feel like they are owed something for things that occurred before they were born.

You don't think immigrants have negative stereotypes associated with them? I'd say they have more of an issue than black folks. Wear a turban and you're labelled a Muslim terrorist (even though chances are your Sikh) What about the language barrier? I could go on and on.

Keep living in the past and see how far that gets people. Keep claiming victimhood for things that happened before you were born etc. etc. I'm sure a lot of these immigrants have had WAY worse in their home countries. Look at some of the caste business that goes on in India and other places. Keep crying racism at every turn and see how far that goes in the long run. Eventually people will become tone deaf to it and will ignore it when an ACTUAL case of racism occurs.

To add to that, I have zero sympathy for anyone that has no desire to help themselves.
