Drunk driving deaths

The majority of guns do just lay around and are just used for sporting purposes. A miniscule percentage are used to kill. How many guns are in the US? 350 million or so? How many deaths by firearms? How many people does each gun kill on average? Math doesn't lie.

Golf wasn't invented when the Constitution was written.

whether most guns happen to just lay around doesn't matter at all when it comes to answering the question what their primary purpose is. or are you really suggesting that guns are primarily made to lay around? and that the posession of guns is protected for that reason or to ensure that people can enjoy them as sporting tools? are you seriously suggesting that golf clubs would have been similarly protected had they been around at the time?

Or the original Cisco alcohol. Or 151.

151. How quaint. I knew someone when I was living in AK, and he would hook me up from time to time with a small bottle of clear stuff. Very clear. And 186 proof. Yowzers!!

Can a car be used as a weapon? Sure, nearly anything can. I can kill someone with a sharp wooden stick. But can a gun be used for anything other than a weapon? No. That's why they're different. Maybe if we can design a gun that can kill someone or transport you to work, we can have this discussion.

I have ridden on a howitzer from point A to point B. A howitzer is a gun. Let's discuss...

I used to tell my friends if we run out of gas, I'm using it as an alternative source of fuel. Anytime a liquor bottle has a filter cap on top of it, that's a warning you should listen to.

Interesting, that... one can get a permit to distill ethanol as a fuel for personal consumption. But it costs more than gas to produce. So why? Foreign oil independence? Hmmmm...

Conspiracy! Now you got me trying to find the racial angle in it so I can get paid.

Do the math and tell me how many people each gun kills. For a large number of people, guns are for sporting use. Most don't buy them with the intent to kill people. The Constitution mentioned guns for protection, we all know that. At that time guns were used for protection and hunting. As we evolved as a nation, we found more peaceful uses for guns and the Constitutions allows us to have guns for protection, a militia, and other sporting type uses. Guns

are a source of completion and enjoyment, just like *gasp* golf. Only golf is more for wussies.

agreed. Should carry the same weight as a drunk driving case if you kill a person.

Which is the exact reason the Constitution needs to be amended. Times have changed, life has changed. For anyone to think that a document that was written over 200 years ago should apply word for word in today's world in insane. If guns are no more important than golf clubs, then they do not need to be a protected right.

On that we could agree. Darn all this judicial modifications to the constitution. There is a process to change it . Our forefathers were smart, and knew times would change . However they did not want to make it quick and easy, for a reason

I think the forefathers get far too much credit than they are due. They were the leaders of their day, slave owners most of them. Why their word of 200 years ago is considered the gospel today is beyond me.

Fines are getting pretty steep these days, I think. I know of a guy who was watching a video on his cell phone while driving. He was pulled over and issued a ticket for it. When he got to court, the fine was $10,000. (Alaska court system)

Lucky for him, he had no priors, so his attorney got it knocked down to about $150 for a first offense.

Well then. There is a way too change that isn't there.
