What about alcohol? Isn't it's primary purpose to dull ones senses and artificially alter the state of mind for supposedly pleasurable purposes? Then due to this state of intoxication, people do stupid things? Like drive. So the actual problem is the alcohol, not the car.

I think Hysteria means something about Uterus. A Hysterectomy is the removal of the Uterus.

I'm not in denial. Death is going to happen, we know that. Guns are made to create death. That's their purpose, that's why they're different. Its not usually an "accident" when you shoot someone and they die. It is when someone drinks themselves to death or blows a tire and flips their car. The intent is not death, that's why its different. A gun's intent is death, that's it. A car's intent is to take you from point a to point b. Any death in between is an accident not intended by the manufacturer.

Most guns in private hands never kill anything. They shoot clay or paper targets. We have seen plenty of gun accidents which are usually the result of a careless gun owner, much like drunk driving deaths are caused by irresponsible people. Treat every gun as if it was loaded, don't drive your car while loaded.

A gun is created and designed to kill things.

A car is created to move you from one place to another and even designed to protect its inhabitants during a wreck. The government even mandates certain levels of passenger/driver safety features that are designed to save lives.

Can a car be used as a weapon? Sure, nearly anything can. I can kill someone with a sharp wooden stick. But can a gun be used for anything other than a weapon? No. That's why they're different. Maybe if we can design a gun that can kill someone or transport you to work, we can have this discussion.

guns are made for sporting and to lay around doing nothing. that's what they're for. that's their primary purpose. and that, ladies and gentlemen, is why keeping and bearing them is such an important right that it had to be written into the constituion. do gun aficionados not understand just how ridiculous the line of argument that the primary purpose of a gun is not to kill and maim really is? why is the right to keep and bear golf clubs not written into the constituion?

The majority of guns do just lay around and are just used for sporting purposes. A miniscule percentage are used to kill. How many guns are in the US? 350 million or so? How many deaths by firearms? How many people does each gun kill on average? Math doesn't lie.

Golf wasn't invented when the Constitution was written.
