Have averaged about 10,000 per year in the past Few years. This does not take into account the many thousands more that die from alcohol related causes every year.

Oddly enough firearm homicides avg a very similar number.

Alcohol serves no legitimate purpose, and there is logical reason a person would need it.

Yet guns do have some purpose. defense, sporting, collecting.

Yet there is no call to ban alcohol .. ??? Odd

PS. marijuana related deaths last year ... 0

I can get behind a plan to replace alcohol with MJ!!!

The anti-gun nuts are usually pro alcohol and come up with off the wall reasons why the two can't be compared. Drunk drivers have killed hundreds of thousands of people over the years, yet there has been no outrage calling for cars and alcohol to be banned. If there was no alcohol, it couldn't kill anyone.

Best solution? Ban poodles!

Prohibition did not turn out as expected. I think we have learned our lesson on that one.

It is amazing how people love alcohol. If it's hot...they drink to cool down. If it's cold...they drink to warm up.

I was talking to a man at an airport a while back .. He lost his CC permit because of a drunk driving arrest that was not a felony. Perhaps a DUI. A judge can grant a permit and he can pull it. According to his lawyer he lost the ability to own a pistol for life in that state. The judge was very anti-gun, He was not carrying at the time of the stop.

Sounds like we need that in dealing with DWI ... First offense . Lifetime ban on driving. The judge took away a right , Driving is only a privilege .

If more citizens were armed, criminals would think twice about attacking them, Detroit Police Chief James Craig

Florida currently has more concealed-carry permit holders than any other state, with 1,269,021 issued as of May 14, 2014

I'd have no problem with banning alcohol. It causes way more problems and solves none.

Funny thing about that thought, I have talked to folks who can't stand drugs(hate that too) but see no problem with getting drunk.
