Ugh how frustrating! You can't trust lawyers 100% so that's why I did a lot of research myself. At the beginning my lawyer told me not to apply for AP but I told him to do it anyways. You never know! In this particular case I don't think it was discrimination, only misinformation. But anyways no point to cry over spilt milk, I hope your consular processing goes fast and smooth. Good luck!

That's why I take everything not with a grain of salt, but with a spoonful. As mentioned, it doesn't sound like discrimination, most people get treated this way by USCIS, gay or straight, black or white, male or female. It's just what they do to deter fraud, they're not out to get you.

Having the EAD/AP would have avoided this situation. Now consular processing will add several months or longer to the entire process. Just make sure you research thoroughly every decision you take from now on, no matter how small. You have to question the tiniest things, because often times a simple mistake or oversight, can bring a lot of headaches, expense, time apart, effort, you name it.

As for your lawyer, I would go ahead and fire him, effective immediately, since he doesn't seem competent at all. If you must hire a lawyer, make sure it's one with verifiable reputation. FYI, your case seems pretty straightforward, so you may be able to get along just fine without one if you research thoroughly. Good luck!

Sorry to hear your experience. I do not understand why some IO make the interview more stressful and difficult than what it should be. We had our interview last week in Houston also and it went smooth. We were called in 13 mins before official time. We were not even requested to show marriage certificate or divorce decrees but we showed additional evidence we did not submit in original package. We were lucky to have an IO who did not intimidate us and was satisfied with our answers.

11/11/17 (Day 466) Case Status changed to New Card Production

11/17/17 (Day 472) I-797  Notice of Removal of Condition being approved received in the mail.

11/20/17 (Day 475/15 months 18 days) New Lawful Permanent Resident arrived in the mail; card in hand at last! :dancing:
