Hello VJ community -

I am in the process of filling out the I-864EZ and I am not sure which name to use. Our NVC case has my wife's Maiden Name, but recently my wife updated to her Married Name as indicated on her passport that she recently received.

I called NVC twice and here's what they told me:

1st call: "NVC rep - go ahead and use the updated name and have all of the I-864EZ form filled out. Send nvcinquiry an email about the name change and provide a photocopy of her passport in email. Once they have confirmed the name change, go ahead and submit the I-864EZ package. (I already sent an email to NVC about this, but have not heard any update on it...its been about 2 weeks now)

2nd call: NVC rep - Go ahead and use the updated name and make a note in the package that the name she is now using is the married name. Submit the I-864EZ package. Whichever comes first, NVC will update the name accordingly, (the email or the note that I will include in I-864EZpackage).

Which name should I use? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Your husband used your maiden name in the AOS package? What name (maiden/married) was your passport under?

My husband used my new name on i-130 now my passport is still on my maiden name so when we got the approval of i-130 and when NVC received my case I emailed them that if they can process my papers under my maiden name because of my passport. When my husband submitted the AOS he put my maiden name.

Doesn't matter what you do it in. Maiden or married to be honest. The case number is there. Also visa comes in passport name.
