Helping online girlfriend

I have previously posted about the beginning of my visa journey. My next quesition is involving financial help for my online girlfriend. As everyone here knows, filipinas are very poor. Simple things that we take for granted are luxuries in the phils.

My question is how to determine if you are being taken for a ride. My situation is as follows: my girlfriend use to pay at an Internet cafe to talk to me. She was regular, and still is, as a Swiss watch when keeping in contact with me. When we became "serious" I bought her a smart bro pocket wifi that she uses with her phone. We basically viber and skype when I am not sleeping or working, which is quite a few hours a day. That was $65. Last week I paid her breakage rent for $35.

One way to possibly determine if you're being taken for a ride is to simply trust your intuition.

My only input is that when I was still courting my now asawa, she was blunt and to the point saying that she didn't want any assistance from me; monetarily or otherwise. She said that she survived before we met and she would continue to. Having said that, after we were engaged, I paid for EVERYTHING to accomplish our goal of a having a successful K-1 approval, getting married, and her joining me in the US.

Basicly, you tie a us number to her sim. Add in unlimited local and long distance on your end, and it means really cheap calls.

As mentioned, use your gut. We don't want to see or hear of the ones we love having a hard time financially, but we don't wanna be the sugar daddy spoiling them. Start small, offer to help with expenses related to your communication, then after you go meet her and get to see what her life is like, the start offering more if you want. If she starts asking, that's a red flag. Especially if she gives $amounts, not php. Just my .02. But yeah, if she not working, it does not take a huge amount to support a filipina here in the philippies, depending on where she lives.

Michille and I have been together for a year and 5 months now. I went to visit her in July 2013 and spend 2 months there. We met on March 1rst 2013, she has never and I will repeat never asked me for a quater, 50 cents, 20 pesos, nothing, nada. Until now she is my fiancee and we are almost towards the end of the k1 phases in manila Philippines and she still have not asked me for anything.

I support her now, because she is my fiancee and I at least met her in person and I love her more than life itself.

never send money to any one you have not met in person, never! !

Just to add one more note, she survived before you enter her life. Yes many are poor, but the true filipinas, the ones with a pure heart will never ask you for anything. Trust me I know, Michille was the 5th filipina I've met, I have been doing the online thing for 2 years before I met my soul mate, seen it all, heard it all.

take my advice and many others here on VJ, who have seen many get burned.

take your time, move slow get to know her!!
