I still (L) Walmart!!

I have been to a lot of other stores that look similar to those Walmart pictures ..... Kmart for example... ugh....

not sure why everyone seems to like to gang up on Walmart... some of us can't afford to shop at those fancy mall stores.... and I must say that even if I did have the money I probably would still shop at Walmart.....

Who's talking about 'fancy mall stores'? I do most of my grocery shopping at Publix or Albertsons. I get most of my clothes from Ross, TJMaxx, Beals, etc. I order almost all of my computer, small electronics, small appliances, etc purchases online at prices far less than WalMart. If I get something at the mall I wait for a really good sale. Believe it or not you can get great deals at places other than WalMart.

As far as "organic" food goes - the things you can get away with and still label a product "organic" would blow your mind. Walmart is not the problem here, but the FDA regulations on labelling. If you care enough to buy "organic" produce, at least do your research and find out more about the specific items and how they may have been treated - or better still, buy local.

Buy local, grow your own, buy fresh and cook.

Although no one knows exactly what the consequences of the 21st century Western diet are going to be in the long term, there is sufficient evidence already with rising obesity and diabetes to suggest that a diet of processed foods is having a detrimental effect on health.

Add to that the unknows, the chemicals, the bad animal husbandry practices, the genetically modified foods and who knows who will be the fittest ove the next 100 years. Maybe it is cheaper to buy these processed foods in Walmart as apposed to other grocery stores, but it's cheaper still to make things using good raw ingredients. Yes, you have to take the time to prepare and cook, but you know what? It's actually fun :P

Survival of the fittest huh? I guess the last laugh will be on those who make the best food choices.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

I guess if you want to count 'strip malls'. Either way, they are far from FANCY mall stores. They carry heavily discounted stuff and I'll bet I can find a better deal on name brand stuff at Ross, TJMaxx, and Beals than anything you'll find at WalMart.

Again with the 'Libs' jab...? (sigh) This is *still* not a political discussion but given that you brought it up it's sure gonna be nice in 2008 when the Libs control all 3 branches.

republican.jpg

Democrats and welfare? Well hello Mr. Stereotype! As far as Republicans, I guess we should all have been happy with the job the they did with control of the 3 branches...?

And I'm a registered Republican. That said, I haven't voted that way since Ronald Reagan. I'll be switching my party on my voters ID before the next election.

just wait till you see what the libs do with control of all 3 branches.

and you'll be back as a registered republican soon i'm sure

I love wal-mart they have all kinds of good deals.

Who cares about there business practice its all about the dollar and thats what business is all about bottom line.

They dont care if you dont shop there for the few that get on their soapbox and so called boycott there are thousands that appreciate the prices and selection of merchandise available.

Darn tootin! To heck with what other people think of them! If it can save a couple of bucks why the heck shouldn't you support Saddam Hussein shop at Wal-Mart? Human rights? Bah! Gimme my low cost ammo and smokes, and mislabeled safe goods. They show what America was built on, hard working Ma and Pa stores that care about the community low priced ####### made by foreigners. And that's all I really deserve for shopping there anyway good enough for me!

Never mind the non-compete clause in perpetuity for the real estate (you know, after they've saturated the market and shut out all competitors, and then start closing stores to consolidate......and the building can never again be used for any commercial business that might compete with the glorious 'Mart)

And, of course, I just looooove how my tax dollar stretches all the way to subsidize their employees! More bang for the buck! Living wage my #######!

:lol::thumbs: That was priceless!

Do not try and put words in my mouth. I did not say all WalMarts are as nasty as the one in that picture. Please re-read my post before your reply and you'll see the unedited statement, 'I'm not saying they're 100% accurate or even an example of WalMart stores as a whole'. I think I'm safe switching to Democrat. The reason I say that is it would be nearly impossible to do a worse job than the current administration has done. The sad thing is it's going to take years to undo the mess that Bush and crew have gotten us into.

Plus I can't switch from Rep to Dem and back to Rep. That would make me a 'flip-flopper'! :hehe:

Three documentaries I've recently watched from Netflix that I'd highly recommend to anyone wanting to know more about what's happening to this country...

70040809.jpg

Producer, director and activist Robert Greenwald takes aim at the corporate giant that's come to symbolize big business in America: Wal-Mart. Blasting the box-store Goliath for allegedly paying substandard wages, skimping on employee health benefits and eviscerating communities, this hard-hitting, emotional documentary profiles the struggle of everyday folks from around the country who've committed themselves to fighting the mega-retailer.

60034810.jpg

This documentary charts the spectacular rise of corporations as a dramatic, pervasive presence in our lives. Filmmakers Mark Achbar and Jennifer Abbott present a timely, entertaining critique of global conglomerates as they chronicle the origins of corporations, as well as their inner workings, controversial impacts and possible futures. The pros and cons are weighed via interviews with social critics such as Noam Chomsky and Michael Moore.

70038794.jpg

Before compiling your next grocery list, you might want to watch this eye-opening documentary, which sheds light on a shadowy relationship between agriculture, big business and government. By examining the effects of biotechnology on the nation's smallest farmers, director Deborah Koons Garcia reveals the unappetizing truth about genetically modified foods: You could unknowingly be serving them for dinner.

....

Consumer choice works when the consumer has a real choice and it's an informed one. Those two conditions are being underminded by corporations who are running this country into the ground.

Yes all the walmarts i go to also are neatly stocked and clean. Obviously when you only look at website photos you will never be able to voice a true opinion on anything until you actually see it in person.

and since when do website photos ACTUALLY show the truth of ANYTHING.

take me to a walmart that looks like that and ill give you the benefit of the doubt, until then, im gonna go take my lunch break and swing by walmart while im at it :)

Wrong. I (sadly) live within walking distance of a WalMart. US19 & Alderman road if you don't believe me. The store is a mess - floors and product aisles The aisles are narrow and cramped and the main aisles have skids of product down them 100% of a time.

I find it funny that you dismiss the photos of that site though. I'm not saying they're 100% accurate or even an example of WalMart stores as a whole. However, if I know WalMart's lawyers they'd sue to get those images taken down if they were false.

You are talking of one store you say is nasty, that does not make WALMART nasty. And if you dont like it then dont go to it, ever. I dont dismiss the pics you posted, i just think it sad you post those pics while talking about walmart in a whole. and if those pics were false trust me if those pics were truely about walmart laywers would have done something to get them off the net. its very easy to stage a photo of anything and say its what you want it to be. not saying YOU personally staged them, talking about any photos on the internet. and when you post photos of something and they say walmart or your posting to make a point about walmart, you obviously found them accurate or you wouldnt have posted them to make your point. :)

Do not try and put words in my mouth. I did not say all WalMarts are as nasty as the one in that picture. Please re-read my post before your reply and you'll see the unedited statement, 'I'm not saying they're 100% accurate or even an example of WalMart stores as a whole'. and no, just bc walmart lawyers didnt take the pics off the net does not prove validility, it proves there are alot of nieve ppl on the internet that believe those pics are valid :)
