lets get one thing clear I am not defending Walmart... You probably have some valid points about Walmart but the same thing could be said about most big business.... Like Microsoft for instance they are trying to take hold of all the computer technology and make it very hard for anyone to get it on that market....

I am defending my right to shop where I want....

and please don't tell me I have lower values and morals, you have no idea who I am and what I believe etc....

There are countries that eat dogs so i suppose your moral standards are higher than theirs?

Just because people in one part of the world (USA) do things a certain way doesnt mean that those ways are to be imposed on all people in the world.

Thats the problem with the iraq war we have our young men and woman fighting right now,we are trying to impose democracy on a region that doesnt even know what it means.

Microsoft already has their foot firmly planted in most businesses. The company I work for is a Linux shop (in that our product is developed on the Linux kernel) but every user, even developers, have a WinXP Pro workstation that connects to a Win2003 Exchange server on a Win2003 domain. It would be very difficult to switch away from Microsoft.

I mean no offense by my statements about Walmart and I don't dislike the store just based on their business practices. I find the store a PITA regarding parking, cramped/messy aisles, closed registers & long lines, etc. To me Walmart is not an enjoyable shopping experience and their business practices only compound my dislike for them. But just as you take offense to me questioning your morals/values I take offense to you questioning my stance on the issue. As has been said before in this thread, best to agree to disagree.

I have no problem if dogs and cats are food first and jackets second. I feel the same way about cows and leather. I know it's not 'PC' in this country (US) to eat domesticated animals like that and I would not do it myself but I'm not going to judge other cultures based on our eating habits. I am however strongly against raising and killing 'fur' animals that are only farmed/killed for their pelts.

We need another thread on 'liberating' the middle east.

No you missed my point...you're sat here calling others' morals and values into question for shopping there, then you turn around and admit that the reason you dislike the store is primarily based on a bad shopping experience in there....long lines, cramped messy aisles, etc. Their business practice 'only compounded' your dislike...so take your Nelson Mandella mentality and realize that you're a hypocrite.

what i find annoying about the entire deal is the smug arrogance that a person can display about wal-mart, especially the "oh you're just stupid/don't care and that's why you shop there" attitude.

i don't care if someone shops there or not. or at saks 5th avenue or 7-11 or whatever. no need to look down their noses at those who chose to go to wal-mart. i'm not making them shop at wal-mart, so they shouldn't try their utmost to keep me from shopping there.

I personally know people, specifically friends and family members, who feel the same way I do regarding WalMart and their business practices and they shop there anyway. My bro hates WalMart but goes to Sams Club because it's 5 miles closer than the local Costo. Another family I know dislikes WalMart but they still go there for the low prices and to do everything in one spot. I told them the exact same thing I stated here in this forum regarding morals/values over cost/convenience and you know what the general response was? 'Oh well, whatever', and that was the end of it. They didn't get offended and walk off in a huff or lash out at me and I'm family and friends with these people.

I also know people who feel exactly the same way I do and refuse to go to WalMart anymore. To each their own. I'm not going to go back over this entire thread and look but I don't think I ever specifically said, 'Everyone who shops at WalMart puts prices/convenience above morals/values'. If I did, that's not what I meant to say. My stance is, those who do not like WalMart for their business practices and continue to go there anyway do put put price/convenience over their morals/values. That's how I feel and if some are offended or annoyed there's not a lot I can do. As has been repeated several times - I prefer to agree to disagree. This will be my last post in this topic so anyone who wants to bash me some more and get in the last word feel free to do so now...
