Airport is around 20km from the consulate. Don't know how long it would take you in traffic, but I'd guess at least an hour. Don't know about lockers, but the security guard at the embassy would be able to tell you where there are some (not nearby). We checked out of the hotel, but left our stuff there and picked it up after the interview. If you're staying in a hotel, they'll usually keep your stuff if you ask them to.

I forgot to say that yes you do need to register your appointment online and for the courier services. It is very important that you do this.
