Hi, I'm unsure if this ended up in the right forum but I'm giving it a go.

Things did not go as planned and we've ended up getting divorced after 10 years together. We have gotten our Swedish divorce, as both of us live in the US we need to get it validated here. I know the Swedish divorce is recogniced here but I quite frankly have no idea how to go about it it?

Does anyone have insight on how to proceed to get the divorce validated in the US? I live in Texas if that makes a differense.

No such process.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

There is a way as I had the discussion with a lawyer in the first place. I know the basics but I'm unsure of where to bring my translated documents and so on. A Swedish divorce is recogniced here I just can't figure out how th heck to do it

Where is your lawyer located? Texas? Supposedly you need to submit a copy with a motion to register the foreign document to Texas. Thelawyer should be able to do this for you if in Texas or licensed to practice in Texas.

Unfortunately said lawyer is not in Texas. I'm still working on it. As far as I've gotten is that it's the county clerk that needs papers from me. Which papers they need is the next question. I've been directed by the county clerk to legal aid if I don't want to hire an attourney. I guess I'm spoiled by being able to find my way online and not have to get lawyers involved with anything.
