I rang the Knights bridge clinic today to try to book my medical but I was refused by the reception. I have my lnd case number but I've not received packet three in the mail as my case is still in transit to the embassy. I've read on here you can book your medical as soon as you receive your case number. Just wondering if this has changed or have you always needed packet 3 first

We had to wait till we got the packet 3. There are things that need to be entered by the Embassy in to the systems. This can not be done till they receive and process the packet the get from the NVC. From our experience.

I would suspect like all shortcuts, over abuse gets the rules changed. The DOS quit taking calls because people called twice a day, every day for weeks.

The embassy has ALWAYS wanted your file in hand and they want to log it in to their system before you do anything. That works pretty well if you book the medical after you know the case says ready or at least allowed 2-3 weeks before you attend the medical for those things to be in place. But people shortcut the shortcut and send things too soon. (Before London is ready.)

Background to answer "Have you always needed Packet 3?"

2008--when I did this, there was nothing online and "packet 3" was really a big packet. The instructions were not on a web page, nor any CEAC search for status and nothing was zapped to them over the internet. You sent 4 forms and a readiness checklist by Royal Mail. The NVC would tell you over the phone when the case arrived and left so you had a clue. Knightsbridge would ask "Have you received Packet 3 yet?" We lied and said "yes". Appointment made, but we chose one for several weeks out to allow things to get to the embassy. Also you could get an interview before having the medical. Some did it the day after interview.

More recent-- Knightsbridge started asking for your specific LND number to curb early booking. I think they thought you would only know that if you had got your embassy letter. Sounds like now maybe the embassy is getting too many medical results and applications on people they don't even know about yet. (Before case file logged into their records).

They really do have a plan worked out for the most efficient way for them to handle the masses of applications they get. When too many try to jump the queue, you slow down their efficiency. When you email the day after your medical and ask "how much longer?" you slow down the system and keep them from efficiently dealing with actual serious problems people have.

Maybe you new guys will have to hold your horses a bit because of the sins of your impatient predecessors.

Yeah its not a massive deal for me as I live in london and she said I can pretty much get a medical the next day after I call. I like my predecessors just want to get over to my wife to be but in the grand scheme of things a few more weeks wont hurt. Does anyone have a rough timeline from nvc to packet 3 how long it takes

Do you know when the case left the NVC? What does your status say on CEAC?

And before you rush off to the medical, have you gotten your police certificate and immunizations you need?

I just checked now and it says ready. So it took 3 days to get there from the nvc. Yeah I got my police certificate last week and I manage a gp surgery so ive had the pleasure of getting all my immunisations already.

Well give it a week maybe. Then call back and tell Knightsbridge (if they ask) that you have indeed received your letter of instruction. "Packet 3" is such an outdated term.

We have similar timeline, I got the NOA2 on 7/28 but they only sent the file to NVC on 8/14 :(

When you have an appointment with Knights bridge, can you let me know how long the wait will be? thanks.

Yeah for sure we are all here to help each other. I actually rang the embassy today and they said I'm fine to go ahead and get my medical.
