Passport stamp at InfoPass

I had my interview on the 4th and was approved right there. The interviewer said I should get my green card in a couple of weeks. Since then there weren't any updates online and nothing in the mail. To set my mind at ease I decided I might as well make an InfoPass just to ask if everything was okay.

I went in and got a very pleasant guy at the counter. I asked him simply to see everything was okay and told him I had my interview and was approved there. He looked at my file and gave a "hmmmmmmm" and told me he was going to have to talk to "somebody upstairs" about my case. Of course that made me a little uneasy and I sat down. It was taking him a while and as more time passed I became a little more nervous, of course figuring the worst 45-minutes later he came back, laughing to himself, apologized for taking so long. Took a while to find my file apparently and by the sounds of it it was sort of just "sitting there", nothing done to it. He then told me everything was okay, it has been approved, took my passport and gave me a stamp good for 1 year. He said I probably won't need it as I should get my card soon, but he still stamped it just in case.

Anyways, just sharing in case anyone finds themselves in a similar situation, and to let you know an InfoPass is worth it (also helped me with my EAD)

Just thought I would update I got approval e-mails today for I-130 and I-485, so the InfoPass definitely helped.

Got my Green Card in the mail today! Finally all done, good for ten years, though will more than likely go for citizenship in 3. Very nice feeling. Timeline is below.

It makes me crazy that they do this.....They don't care that they are messing with peoples lives because of their unwillingness to do their jobs!!!

We interviewed on Dec 14th and were told we were approved, but my fingerprints had expired since our wait was so long! First of all....they couldn't have done this while we were waiting for our interview? We got the interview letter 2 months in advance. Second of all, we had to return home and wait for a fingerprint notice and go back on Jan 14th to do those again. Since then we have heard nothing, not even a touch!! The officer said when we went down for fingerprinting to make sure and let her know so she could complete the case. Of course we did that (through a security officer since we are too lowly to be granted another audience) but why even bother. I can guarantee my file is sitting on someones desk covered in coffee rings!

As much as I would love to do the infopass I am less than 2 weeks away from giving birth and our DO is over 2 and a half hours away...I can't do the journey again! It frustrates me so much that even calling the info line is of no help whatsoever! They will read off whatever is on your case notice thingy!

Anyway, glad you got some satisfaction and congrats on the GC! These inconsistensies really get my goat!!!!!
