Do We Need Hard Copy of NOA1 or NOA2 for Interview

Hi,

Our petition was approved by USCIS on June 25th. But we still haven't received a hard copy of the NOA2. However, the process is still moving along and the next step will be receiving notice of our interview date.

It seems like I've read somewhere that you have to take a hard copy of the NOA2 with you to the interview. Does anyone know if that's true? (If true, it doesn't make sense to me since there would be no interview if USCIS hadn't approved it)!

I contacted USCIS about not receiving it a couple of weeks ago and they said we have to fill out some form and pay a fee to get them to send another copy. They say they sent it back in June, but we haven't received it.

They did not ask my NOA-2 during my interview. If the US embassy already have received the approved petition then It should be sufficient, no need NOA-2. Keep us updated!

We didn't have our NOA2-they never sent it to us. He just typed up a note saying as much when submitting his packet to adjust status.*

They asked my fiancee for NOA2 letter and Packet 4 email.

I don't know what would've happened if she didn't have them...

Good thing I just happened have sent her NOA1, NOA2, and NVC letters.

This is straight from the VJ guide, Id follow it to a T. See number 6.

What to send to your fiance(e) once the I-129F is approved (Receive NOA2):

1. A copy of the entire I-129f package (that you made when you sent the petition in) and a copy of information that you sent back due to an RFE (if you received one). Your fiance(e) should review this information in advance of the interview (the embassy will have copies of this as well). 2. Send copies of the documentary proof that you submitted with the I-129F for your fiance(e) to have on hand for their interview at the embassy. Your fiance(e) should review this information in advance of the interview (the embassy will have copies of this as well). 3. Send an original letter affirming your desire to marry your fiance(e) and your continued support of the K-1 Visa. Sign and date the form. This will be similar to the letter you provided with the I-129F, but dated much closer to the interview (it will have most likely been several months since you submitted your I-129F). 4. I-134 Affidavit of Support form. Ensure it is signed, with all required supporting evidence. Begin collecting the required information ahead of time, as it can often take several weeks to collect it all. 5. You will need several items (for the above form). Gather duplicate evidence of income and resources as appropriate:

(A) Statement from an officer of the bank/financial institution with your deposits, identifying the following: 1. date account opened; 2. total amount deposited for the past year; 3. present balance
(B) Statement(s) from your employer on business stationary showing: 1. Date and nature of employment; 2. salary paid; 3. whether position is temporary or permanent (also include copies of your last two pay stubs and your previous W-2 for the associated employer if available)
© If Self Employed: 1. Copy of last income tax return filed (or IRS transcripts); or 2. report of commercial rating concern
(D) List containing serial numbers and denominations of bonds and name of record owner(s).

Begin collecting these ASAP after your NOA2 arrives. See this FAQ for more tips and useful information on the Affidavit of Support Form. 6. A copy of the NOA2 that you received in the mail. (backup information; the embassy will have copies of this as well) 7. Proof of your ongoing relationship. This needs to be taken to the interview! Include photos, travel documents, emails, online chat logs (pick several over the prior few months), etc.. from between the time you filed and present (NOA1 until date-now).

Examples: Copies of land line and cell phone bills, appropriate emails and letters you have sent including the stamps on envelopes (to document the date they were sent), and other written documentary proof. Provide a reasonable amount; two to four of each type. Pick a range of dates up to and including the present. You can also include a copy of engagement ring receipt (this is something that is a big optional - do not worry if you do not have a ring yet!)

Some of guides on VJ are not really apply. For instance, an entire copy of I-129F package. You don't need this one. The reason why VJ put here in case you had bad luck and lost your package and you are still have a copy of it. The US embassy already has the package including the approved petition. I did not bring any of these and they did not ask me either during my interview.

For OP:

Please just follow what the consulate ask from your fiancée. It would be sufficient since each consulates has their own requirement. Good luck!

So, I called USCIS about this a few weeks ago. This week I got an email reply from them (and no reply by mail - because for some reason I never receive any mail from them)!

The email said that in order for me to get a new copy of the NOA2 sent that I had to file Form I-824 and pay the filing fee for the form.

And this form is ridiculous! It's like the I-129F all over again. What's your name and address (understandable), what country were you born in, who are your dependents, list your dependents, where what are their names, their addresses, were they born. Who is your beneficiary? Where does she live, where was she born, how old is she?

I mean come on! But the worst part is - the filing fee isn't $15 or something reasonable... it's $405!!!

Are they serious!? $405 to get a letter sent to you that they were supposed to send in the first place? Oh, they claim they sent it and that it wasn't returned to them. But I never received it. And yes, they have my correct address on file and no, I haven't moved! OUTRAGEOUS!

Hi Jon,

Sometimes the letters get lost. You can file AOS without it, but it is more of a pain. There is a thread about it with instructions, so I would forgo the replacement for now. Good luck.

Same problem-we never received ours, even though every other piece of correspondence got to me without a problem. And no matter how high up the chain I chased it, no one would waive the fee. So we said it and filed without, based on the thread Harpa mentioned. My husband received his EAD/AP card with no problem, and we got an interview waiver for his AOS; no RFEs yet.

Thanks Harper and kehills. It's beyond me why they would even need it. You'd think they would know you got it by the fact that you're there in the first place! Or you'd think they'd be able to look it up on their computers. But thanks kehills for relating your personal experience with this.
