The fact that the mother doesn't want the child in the first place, is usually a good indicator what kind of future the child will have. That's just a guess on my part though.

You're obviously overly emotional. Are you pregnant? Do you need a dose of responsibility? Get a job you hippie!

No one is "forced" not to steal or kill by laws, by which I mean no one is physically prevented from stealing or killing. Rather it is the morality that is engendered by laws that prevents most from stealing or killing. However, a blanket ban on access to safe and legal terminations to a much greater extent would "force" a woman to carry a fetus to term unless she chose to undergo the procedure outside of the law. And women will always do that -- women have been doing just that for centuries, millennia even. Criminalising abortion will lead to greater risks of mortality amongst women of reproductive age, because the standard of care cannot be regulated. There are laws that do force us not to do things, like take quaaludes for example.

The morality of the issue is being considered, the problem is that you don't like the conclusion, unless it's the one that you agree with.

I said a 'form of slavery', not slavery as in selling women in the marketplace. Forcing women to undergo unwanted medical procedures just so they can have children they don't want to be wards of the state is a monstrous idea. Slavery is exactly what it is.

I bet you haven't considered the morality of that.

Calling this slavery is like calling abortion murder. Don't be one of them.

It's disappointing that you can't easily get Qualuudes anymore. Although probably not a good idea if you own a lamborghini

I took a half a day off form work so I could come home and argue with people on VJ. That's commitment! I should get an extra heart just for that.

your worldview must be pretty depressing if you think we'd all be killing and stealing from each other if it weren't for the government telling us not to.

Uh no...IMO societies benefit better with a gov. The point of that post was that a society we determine what is right and wrong. Although abortions are illegal this issue will never go away due to the moral aspects. People are split on this issue, I happen to be on the losing side.

I never argued for a blanket ban. You just jumped into this conversation.

When an attempted robbery suspect is caught do we just let them grab the goods and walk away, no.

This issue is split and will never go away because of the moral issue. Trying to make it just about the woman is sad.
