Hello...if my wife enters the US on a I-130/CR1 visa, she has her green card. How long is that usually good for? Does she then have to adjust status to a permanent resident, and if so, what is the cost for that? Is it the same cost and process for my stepdaughter? Thanks,

The visa after endorsement at POE, is a temporary green card valid for 1 year. You will need to pay the Immigrant fee on the ELIS website which is part of the USCIS. The $165 fee and entry to the USA will start the production of the hard copy green card. How long it's valid for depends on how long you've been married at POE. There is no adjustment of status for an IR1/CR1. However if you've been married less than 2 years, 90 days less than 2 years of the expiration on the hard copy green card you must remove the conditions of the green card. There is a separate forum for that on here.

Yes it's thr same process for your step daughter provided you submitted a separate petition for her and she has her own visa.

Ah, ok. Is there a fee to remove conditions from the green card if married less than two years? Thanks for your feedback!

Actually, I just found the thread on the I-751. I assume this is the form I need to fill out and pay when the time comes, correct?
