i called the NVC this morning and they had assigned me my london case number. The problem i have is when i enter this number on the ceac website it is telling me the case number is not valid. As the case number was only assigned today could this be a reason for it not showing on the system as of yet or could the NVC have given me the wrong case number.

Are you sure you're using the correct Visa application type? Try using IMMIGRANT VISA and see if it shows up this time.

Your case number will be under the IMMIGRANT option.

Also, make sure you include "LND" when you key-in your case number. :)

When I was given my case number it took 48 hours for it to show up, they had literally just assigned my case maybe an hour before I called. This has happened to others as well. Also, when it was shipped out that also took 48 hours to update.

so if they ship it to the country's embassy/consulate it will say so on the ceac website?

After having to hold for 45 minutes it turns out they missed out a number the first time I called. This was even after I repeated it back twice. Thank god the nvc is just a short stop on this journey although they did say it could still be 3 weeks before they send it to London. Seems a bit of a wait

Yes, it will say "In transit" when it is shipped out.

Wow, how does that happen, even after you read it back to them?! When I got my number and it kept saying it was invalid I called them back twice to make sure I had the right case number, I was even told that it wouldn't even show up on the CEAC status because they didn't think such a thing existed (huh??). I just had bad luck!

and once it gets to my US embassy, will it say "ready for interview"? and if so, is that when i can go on and schedule my interview....

and my US embassy will also inform me thru mail about all of this and what all i need for the interview right?

btw sorry for asking my questions in your thread.....i had JUST called the NVC and they gave me the new case nr and thankfully it's in the system. people there really should be more knowledgable tho....when i asked for the new case nr the lady sounded clueless, i had to ask again and they she was like "oh yes". and it couldn't have been her not understanding what i'm saying, these people there just...idk lol

When it gets to the embassy/consulate and it's logged it will say "Ready". That doesn't necessarily mean it's time to schedule the interview, that depends on the embassy/consulate.

I dont know about London, but in Bangkok you can do your medical and order your police cert and also send in your pre-interview packet as soon as you have an NVC case number. You dont have to wait till it arrives physically. We did all that and it worked fine.....someone here said they would not accept the packet 3, but they did accept it and held it until the case arrived from NVC...

However, they would NOT schedule an interview until the case arrived from NVC.

We saved a few weeks by having the packet 3 ready and doing the medical and police while the 129F part was still in transit.

I dont know if London will do this, you need a local expert to see how each embassy does things.

Through out this process the one thing I have learned is that each embassy is quite a bit different in how they handle the details.
