My husband and I got married July 25th and went to the Social Security office July 31st to change my last name and apply for his social security number. They told us both it would take two weeks to receive our cards, however I received my new card within the first week and now over two weeks later he still has not received his.

If they did a SAVE database look up and stated that his application was okay and would receive the card in a couple of weeks, I would go back and see if you can get a print out of the number. My wife's SSC was returned by the USPS because her name was not on the mailbox. So I would check with the local SSA office about the status of his card and if nothing else he will have the number. Then see about the whole mail thing with the USPS. Some letter carriers take it upon themselves to return mail or it is in the wrong mailbox and the people actually returned it rather than throwing it out.

Good luck,

Dave
