I-864 Questions

I'm going to try to get all my questions answered in one go. They're all related to the I-864

1.) For 2013, my wife and I filed our taxes jointly. On Part 6 of the I-864 where it asks for my income for the 3 most recent years, do I include my wife's income?

2.) In part 3 there is a question "I am sponsoring the principal immigrant named in part 2" and I've checked yes. After that there is Family member 1-5 and their info. Since I'm only sponsoring my wife, who is named in part 2, then I leave family member 1-5 blank. Do I write N/A in all the boxes or can I just leave it blank?

3.) In general, I've noticed there's a lot of empty boxes on the I-864. I read the general rule is to not leave boxes empty and to write 'N/A' or 'non'e instead. Do I have to do this for every empty box on the form?

1.) Since you filed jointly I, personally, (someone correct me on this if they disagree) would provide only your (the petitioner's) income. This form is basically getting to know your financial status and if you can support your wife upon her arrival in the States.

2.) On family member #2 I'd put N/A, but not on the rest of the boxes....they're smart enough to figure out that there's obviously no one other than your wife being petitioned.

3.) Yeah, I marked every empty box with either None or N/A unless it's like the family member section you were asking about. Marking all boxes doesn't hurt though...it's not that much to write and at least it doesn't leave them confused as to if you "missed" that section or not.

You say starting from family member #2? I thought, with the way the form is set up, that even family #1 would be left blank if I'm only sponsoring my wife. Do I put my wife's info in family member #1? It seems a bit redundant because all that info is entered in earlier in the form.

Ah my bad. I just looked up the I864 form and yeah all the family member boxes are listed referring to Part 3 question 2 which is asking for family members other than the principal immigrant. On part 3 only check the box on question 1 saying Yes I'm sponsoring the principal immigrant named in part 2. The rest will be left blank.

So where it says Family Member 1 Family Name (first box) write N/A in those first three name boxes and they should get the idea that no other immigrants are accompanying your wife.
