Most applications I've seen in the last 12 months (including mine) are around 6 months at USCIS, 2 weeks to transfer to NVC, 30d to assign case number, 1-2 weeks to get the bills out, 30d to process at NVC after arrival of all documents, and then 2 weeks to get to Embassy.

So after NOA-2, about 3.5-4 months if you have all the required paperwork ready to ship out. Then it's up to the embassy schedule for interview date and medical

My case got sent back because they ask my husband a question about a child on my taxes. He couldn't answer.. it was a foster care child taxes 3 years ago. They asked a question about my father also he couldn't answer what state he was in. Which I have no relationship with him. They also said all the phone records ..text message record were Not real. All 200 pages... so I had to send in more evidence and I did in USCIS has approved and send it back to nvc

I wanted to add our timeline to this thread since processing has recently slowed down at the NVC - this may affect you since you're not too far off this step in your journey.

USCIS:

NOA1 - 24th Sept

Transferred to Nebraska - 5th March

NOA2 - 31st March

(NOA1 to NOA2: 27 weeks)

NVC:

Case Number Assigned and AOS fee / DS261 available: 19th May

(NOA2 to NVC case available: 7 weeks)

IV fee available: 23rd June

(DS261 submitted to IV fee available: 5 weeks)

Then we had a long delay due to a tax return debacle so our time line isn't useful after that, but current waiting times quoted by NVC are:

NVC Processing of IV and AOS packets: quoted at min. 60 days

I am assuming approx. 2 weeks for file to reach London embassy and interview readiness form available for submission.

From looking at the regional forum I'm expecting 6 weeks from medical to embassy interview.

Most people seem to receive their passport/visa within a few working days but you should allow at least 2 weeks or ideally don't book your flight until you have visa in hand.

Sorry if this is bad news - I can tell you it's a long slog. We've broken up the months with regular visits across the pond, it's been very expensive in flights!

In the meantime review the NVC process (check out the VJ guides) and gather your documents and info ahead of time to avoid any delays. Make sure you are up to date with your US federal income tax returns. If you have a joint sponsor get them prepared for what they will need to submit. If the USC is returning to the US from an extended period of time abroad prepare your evidence for proof of US domicile.

Good luck and I wish you a swift journey.
