Bank Statement/letter

How important is a letter from the bank to the interview for my fiance in Canada? It seems I somehow missed that in getting all the other information together. I did include my affidavit of support with my 1040A as well as my parents who were gracious enough to offer their support to her as well.

If you are over 125% of poverty guideline, and you have employment letter to prove it,

then you shouldn't even need the bank statements.

Every case is different, but for financial evidence from the sponsor,

they only asked for 2013 income tax filing and W2.

Speaking of which, did you send the full 2013 tax filing and W2(s)

or just 2 page 1040A?

Just the 2 page 1040A, with paystubs from the last year.

I'm well over the 125% poverty line. She has 3 sponsors as well. She's just getting nervous because we lack the letter. Anything you can say to make her feel more at ease?

Did you not include W2 form(s) for 2013 that you received from your employer(s)?

Did you also include letter of employment from your current employer

with your salary, hired date, and your job position descriptions?

Bank statements are not required, but above documents are more important.

Just to be clear...are you the sole sponsor?

Are you doing joint-sponsor?

No, I didn't include the W2 forms. I do have the letter of employment from me and my mother. Technically I'm the sole sponsor but we included my mother in there if it turns out that I'm not enough.

You didn't include the W2's? Did you not read the instructions??? You're likely to get an RFE. Be sure to send your fiance the W2's for when she goes to the interview. They WILL ask and demand it...and give her a 221(g) form to provide additional required paperwork!

A letter from the bank stating that you have an account, how much is on deposit and that you're a member in good standing is fine. I did not send in bank statements and it worked out fine. But, we're K3/Married.

You should know if you are 125% over the poverty level...simple math. Putting your mother in there is not likely to help. Co-sponsors for K1's are generally not accepted. Either you have the income or you don't. "Technically" doesn't cut it if you don't qualify. Just sayin'!

Pay very close attention to the instructions!!!! As another member here says: This Will Not Be EASY!!!

Do you alone make over 125% of poverty guideline?

Or only when combined with your mother's income, that it goes over 125%?

Either you filed as sole sponsor or as co-sponsor with your mother.

He makes more than 125% of the poverty line but he wasn't sure what the poverty line was so that's why he got his parents lined up as a co-sponsor.

He doesn't need his mom's info but he provided it to me anyway.

I am very cross right now - my interview is on Wednesday and I have to leave Tuesday to get to Montreal for the interview.

Can he scan his W2 and send it to me? Will that, his pay stubs and 1040A form be enough?

Yes, he can send you a scanned copy of W2.

Current pay stubs would be good also.

As for the 2013 tax filing...I'm not 100% sure that just 2 pages of 1040A is good enough,

unless there were no other supplemental forms that were submitted.

I believe the instruction is asking for a "full" copy of the 2013 tax filing.

Someone can clarify this part...

May depend on the country...but, the PI looks askance at Co-sponsors...

There are always exceptions...

Why take the chance? Getting denied for income is heartbreaking, at best!

Whatever his tax accountant prepared...whether 2 pages or 20...he needs to provide the complete 1040 WITH W2's. They can be emailed to you...originals are not possible because they're sent to the IRS...

You need to send the letter of Employment --- POST HASTE! Copy or Original...Original will be preferred. And a COMPLETE 2013 Tax Return with W2s...does that help????

Rules are different for different countries, and the Philippines is very different from other places. Don't assume that rules for PI are the same across the board, or you'll be giving people incorrect information.

Have your fiancé email you:

Print out IRS tax transcript for the last three years (found here http://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Get-Transcript )

His 2013 W2 (2012 and 2011 if he has them, too)

Statement from the bank, if he can get one generated

Letter from HR with his job title, when he started the position, what he earns yearly, that he is an employee in good standing (follow letter templates found here), if possible

The IRS tax transcript should take care of everything, but since he didn't follow the directions the first time around, having all possible information at hand would be useful, as a just in case. Or at least to make you feel better (I know it would make me feel better if I had everything possible).

I just used a letter from employer, some pay stubs and printed off a few months of bank statements for my Canadian K1 interview and I was fine. No tax information was asked for demanded. Depends on the consulate.
