It would be narcissism if I spent the whole time talking about myself. I didn't.

I made a single point, which you objected to and proceeded to initiate a stream of personal attacks.

Perhaps narcissism is your problem?

It's just fun watching you wiggle about pounding your drum out of rhythm with the rest of the world. You don't have much to say, but you sure make a lot of noise.

There are some of us here that have served in combat, do have strong feelings on this matter. I suggest you trivialize what you do not understand...

The same as for this 'O' Administration who criminally underfunds and ignores the institutions to built to serve war veterans.

For educational purposes, please attend a reunion of combat vets and voice your opinion on the triviality of their commander being killed in action  ...PS: bring ray-gun

You should not be stirring this pot...no matter how right you think you are

He should have attended the funeral. It was the right thing to do.

Wonder what the protocol is for a 2 star. I am not sure that calls for a Presidential, but I would think Vice, First lady, or Sec of Def for sure

You see none of these issues are invalid but they are separate to what has been said here. Nowhere was it said that the generals death was trivial, wasn't tragic or isn't worthy of recognition, only that fixating on the presence (or lack thereof) of the president for the purposes of having a two minutes hate on a message board seems a bit misdirected.

No pot has been stirred but a fair few insults have been thrown around. Go figure.

I tried looking up the history of Presidents attending funerals and its pretty sketchy, I don't actually think there is a precedent.

0bama's done himself no favors regarding his relationship with American armed forces.

After a spate of news stories this summer citing tensions between President Barack Obama and his top military commanders over the possibility of U.S. intervention in Syria, White House chief of staff Denis McDonough hastened to assure the Washington Post that everything was, in fact, copacetic: The president “appreciates” candid military advice “above all else,” McDonough insisted, and has “close, and in some instances warm, relationships with his military chiefs,” as the Post put it. During my own time at the Pentagon, where I worked as an Obama appointee from the spring of 2009 until mid-2011, few seemed to hold this view. I recall asking one general, recently back from Afghanistan, if he’d shared his experiences and insights with the president. Rolling his eyes, he told me grimly that the White House preferred the military to be seen but not heard.

"No soldier in his right mind would guarantee ‘no boots on the ground,’” a retired senior commander told me. “You can never make such guarantees.”

Out of curiosity, how do they feel about the president that sent them to fight his dirty wars in the middle east?

You never served in the military one day in your life. It would do you good to attend the funeral of a British or American soldier and ask his or her comrades how they feel about serving their country.

Perhaps you could just answer the question without the hysteria and sensationalism and without making it about me.

I learned a long time ago that if you want to know who the men and women of our armed forces feel about anything, that you need to ask them personally. There is no need to debate me. Your fight and disrespect should be directed toward them. I can tell you they don't much care for those who want to play mother-hen to them. They are a proud bunch. No need to even seek out a funeral. Next time your out in public and see someone in uniform, ask them how they feel.

I wholeheartedly agree 'Ex-Pat,' unfortunately it would be an insult to their sacrifice to have the circus show up.
