I believe the consulate uses EMS to delivery visa and you can track the delivery. I thought I read somewhere that you could also arrange to pick up your visa at a EMS local branch. Let me see if I can find the link.

I remember that EMS called my wife before delivering to make sure someone at home. She can go to local EMS office to tell them that she is waiting for the package and if they have it, then call her to pick it up.

New Journey AOS:

My fiancee came to US on the 8th of March, 2014 under K-1 visa at Newark, NJ Airport for POE.

Applied Social Security Number on the 10 of March, 2014.

Married on the 13th of March, 2014.

Sent I-485, I-765, and I-131 on the 15th of March, 2014.

Received EAD on June 7, 2014.

Received Notice of Potential Interview Waiver on July 1, 2014 date 6/27

Contacted Ombudsman on 01/12/2015.

Ombudsman contacted USCIS on 02/20/2015.

Ombudsman sent a follow up to USCIS on 03/18/2015.

I-485 approved on 03/31/2015 ( we ordered your card).

Welcome notice was mailed on 04/01/2015.

Received Welcome Notice on 04/08/2015.

Card was mailed to me/picked up by USPS on 04/08/2015.

Received GC on 4/10/2015.

Prediction 04/08/2015

Visa in hand!! 4 days after interview, even though ustraveldocs still shows no update status !!! Nonetheless, happy and excited this is over. Now we just have to deal with O'hare POE!

Ems called my wife but she wasn't home at the time. We went to the post office and picked it up. Thanks again everyone!

15-03-2013: I-130 NOA1

06-11-2013: Transfer date to TSC

09-01-2014: NOA2 (I-130)

29-01-2014: Shipped to NVC (I-130)

NVC:

06-02-2014: NVC received case

13-03-2014: Case Number assigned

13-03-2014: IIN Number assigned. Email addresses given

17-03-2014: DS-261 Available and submitted to NVC

18-03-2014: AOS invoice available on portal; AOS paid. "IN PROCESS"

20-03-2014: AOS shows "PAID"

24-03-2014: AOS/I-864 packet express mailed to NVC

01-04-2014: AOS packet arrived at NVC

27-03-2014: IV invoice available on portal; IV invoice paid. "IN PROCESS"

31-03-2014: IV invoice shows "PAID"

01-04-2014: DS-260 submitted

26-04-2014: IV Packet express mailed to NVC

01-05-2014: IV Packet received by NVC

21-05-2014: Case Complete

07-08-2014: Interview Scheduled
