And if you have a pending case you also must call them and inform USCIS of an address change over the phone. This is outlined on the paperwork your fiance got. There have been a lot of people not doing this lately; maybe there is some misinformation floating around on here.

Harpa...I'm not sure about the requirements for K1...but, I changed address just before my wife's K3 was forwarded to Manila...I did so via the USCIS email system. I also sent the Change of Address to the Embassy in Manila via email. Never had to call either of them. They sent a notice via email and US Mail acknowledging the change of address - to my new address.

Here's the link to USCIS...

Just send that to your fiance...it's a very easy process.

I see that your fiance is from Fremont CA...I grew up there!!! Moved away a very long time ago...have been living on the East Coast since 1991...

Ingat! Good Luck!

Yes, please read your own link. Hint: it's in the second box, confirming what I said.

Wow...it says OR call...

Have any pending OR recently approved applications or petitions (except for VAWA, T or U visa); you need to complete two steps

AND

  • Step 2: Change your address on any pending or recently approved applications or petitions (online OR by phone at 1-800-375-5283)

Use our convenient Online Change of Address system to complete steps 1 and 2 at the same time. Once you complete Form AR-11 online - the system will also provide you the opportunity to change your address on any pending or recently approved applications. If you use our Online Change of Address to complete Form AR-11, you do NOT need to file a paper Form AR-11

Can we move on now?

No, because it is two different things. There is a big AND in between. AR-11 and a "change of address" for pending petitions. Both can be done online, but it is 2 different things. Or one can be done by mail and the other by phone.

This is all outlined on the NOA1s you get.

There was recently a case where someone got denied because he did not do both things, he only did the AR-11, and he missed his interview because the letter went to the old address. It is important to help people not get their case denied.

Ok...but, it clearly states, email OR phone call...and, yes, by mail...why would anyone use the US Mail if they can do t by email? hehehe... as for the NOA 1 - there wasn't anything that indicated that I would have to do both...on the NOA 2 - likewise. Perchance, the person you described above, may have moved at an inopportune time and may have delayed sending the pertinent info...hard to say...really don't know the facts. Regardless...the instructions regarding changing one's address is pretty clear...you can mail, email OR you can call. Or...do both...for safety! I can say that from my own experience, the response was immediate. Not only did I receive notification of the Change of Address acknowledgement - I also received other mail/notifications from USCIS, NVC and the Embassy. Luck, maybe! LOL. Not meaning to be argumentative...as I mentioned in a different post...I do respect your knowledge, straight-forwardness and directness. And, I do agree wholeheartedly, it is important to provide accurate information that will be beneficial to all.

YES! Go on line on the USCIS website...there is a link to change address. They will notified by email and US mail that the USCIS has acknowledged the Change of Address.

Thanks Ed and Gina !!
