Hello all,

I am new here and have tons of questions so please bear with me :P

Is K1 visa faster than K3 and does anyone know why?

i will start my process somewhere in the March and I was wondering if any changes happened from 2006? Also, I am planning to do through my lawyer, his price is very decent ( $280 + $170 for DHL) but I already purchased do it yourself kit just to take a a quick look at those papers and to see what it's all about. I am meeting my baby next month and I was wondering if he can sign some papers there and then just to give it to the lawyer . Are they coded somehwere or have some kind of bar code and the USCIS will see that the papers from my lawyer are different?

Thanks for any info :)

I'll become a regular forumer here cause i know i'll need a lot of :help:

12/14/09 - I-751 mailed

I would read the Guides to start then ask questions about what is confusing. If your using a lawyer they can answer alot too. I went without one.

( $280 + $170 for DHL) ??? :o

Use delivery confirmation via the post office. Save yourself $170.

i thought the $170 was the fee for Dep. of homeland security?

The processing time through the USCIS is roughly (stressed roughly) the same, the variable is the consulate.

I am meeting my baby next month and I was wondering if he can sign some papers there and then just to give it to the lawyer.
Of course you can... I am confused, is this your first meeting?
Are they coded somehwere or have some kind of bar code and the USCIS will see that the papers from my lawyer are different?

No it is not our 1st meeting, but does it make a difference :P

Go to the immigration timelines section and sort by your criteria (consulate) and see what others have reported for either/both visa types.

YMMV

It says only 1 application is pending, unless i read under something else  does that mean the process can go really fast if they are not pending a lot of applications?

Obviously volumn is only one consideration. Where did you see one pending application?

Well bottom line is that is a sample of VJ members who have used the consulate and reported a timeline. VJ is just a small percentage of the entire visa volume occuring at the USCIS or any consulate in particular.

YMMV
