I met my fiance September 2013 while living in California he was here on a student visa, he was my neighbor and while we didn't live with each other on paper we were never apart. One thing led to another and now we're engaged and ready to marry. He moved back to sweden on August 2 and I moved back to texas in late july. We want to apply for the K1 visa so we can be married in the US and he can come live with me. Since I have not known him for two years can I not apply for it now? I have really bad anxiety and time away from him is really hard on me. I am visiting him in sweden for three months this september but I want to know if I can start the petition before I leave. We are trying to do anything to see each other in person as much as possible to make the process more bearable but I don't know if I can even apply yet?

You can file.

The rule is that you have to have met in the last two years, not known each other for two years.

You could have only known each other a month and could file it.

As long as you have met face to face within the past two years.
