I'm new posting on this board but have been looking at it for advice and answers for a little while now. I am engaged to a Peruvian man who I met at work and have been with for over a year. We both work on a cruise ship in Hawaii and he is currently in the US on a C1-D (crewman) visa.

Yesterday I started getting together the I-129f packet for a K1 visa and I'm both stressed and excited about it. How long did it take most of you to gather all of the information and fill out all of the forms before sending in the initial packet?

Thanks!

It could take you a week to a couple of weeks, it all depends how proactive you and your fiance are and how quickly you can get all the documents that you need to file back to you.

Getting your fiances birth certificate, passport photo, letter of intent can take time as your fiance will have to send it to you here in the States. I was able to collect all the things I needed for my wife in a few days as I traveled to Lima to visit her and were able to get those documents in a few days with her. Birth certificates in Lima can be obtained at RENIEC easily and are usually available immediately unless your fiance was born outside the jurisdcition of RENIEC and have to track down the certificate directly from the city your fiance was born. See the guide below for the things you need for filing the I-129F and also a line by line instruction how to fill the form . If you have questions ask them away as people here are always willing to help :-)
