Yup, she has the list of shots and medical exam result in what Chinese call it a "yellow book",

so we just need to hunt down a copy of DS-3025 from the hospital if they let us get one.

I'm trying hard to avoid doing I-693 if possible, we'll see.

What a mess this is...

Thanks...

Nich-Nick was a great help a few years ago calming our fear of the I-693.

My then fiancé came over on k-1 and did AOS with just one round of shots she received in Guangzhou.

Because we were not sure if her k-1 would be approved, she only had her medical exam done without any shots prior to the interview.

She was given a sealed envelope and X-ray to be taken to her interview.

After she passed her interview, she went back and got her shots. The Guangzhou medical facility then gave her immunization records in the form of a yellow booklet, a copy of the DS-3025, and then a sealed envelope addressed to the USCIS: http://www.visajourney.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=lastupby&uid=94211

We did not open the sealed envelope, but we guessed it was the official copy of the DS-3025 for AOS because she has a k-1 visa. This envelope was smaller than the one that contained the results of her medical that she turned in at the interview.

We mailed the sealed envelope with her AOS package to the USCIS, and she got her green card without any issues at AOS that year.

She got her shots in July 2011 in China, I brought her back to the States early September, we got married and filed AOS at the end of September. She received her green card in February 2012. No I-693 was involved.

Thanks Bobby that's very informative to know, and yes I agree that Nich-Nick is awesome on this (and many other) topics. I read several of his posts already on this.

So, what you are saying is she "completed" all her shots "at one time" in China, and didn't need any second round of shots after some waiting period?

My fiancee had 2 shots, and she can take 2 more after 6 weeks.

So the sealed envelope (DS-3025) that she will eventually receive from the embassy,

will have 2 shots missing. So in our case, we can't just submit that only.

So we have to pickup 2 more shots in China or in USA, and I'm trying to find a way to get it done in

China and have complete shot records listed on DS-3025, though this one won't be in a sealed envelope

because she has already passed the interview.

So, I'm trying to determine...

1) if she can get the DS-3025 with all shots completed in China

2) and whether we can submit the update DS-3025 along with the sealed envelope that contains

original DS-3025 (with 2 shots taken and 2 missing),

3) Or they will require us to go through the I-693 transcribing with the new DS-3025.

It is possible that someone could come to the U.S. within the 6-week window and not be eligible medically to receive the booster shots, get married and file for AOS with the original DS-3025 with missing booster shots.

It was our experience that booster shots were not required for AOS, and it is a personal choice to receive the booster shots afterwards. I think most people would try to avoid unnecessary shots :)

I know it is very confusing with some people saying that the booster shots and I-693 are required. I went through that struggle a few years ago, and I survived to share my experience with you :)

I will be in the same boat as DualityOneness in 3 months. I just got my NOA2 last Friday and my fiancee will go through the medical exam in Guangzhou too. My fiancée is not able to find her vaccination record before the age of 7. I compared the record from my international certificates of vaccination (which I obtained from the medical exam for my F4 visa in Guangzhou 13 years ago) with her vaccination record. She is missing 6 of the vaccinations, although the required vaccinations may have been changed after 13 years. If my fiancée were to take all those vaccinations before departure (2 shots each time and 6 weeks apart), it may push the departure date to Late January or Early February. The airline fare usually peaks between Jan and Feb in China due to Spring Holidays. It is undesirable for my fiancée to stay in China after Dec because of the extra time required and the overly inflated airline fare. The increase in the airline fare for 3 trips (1 round trip for me and 1 one-way trip for my fiancée) is likely to be several times the amount of visiting a civil surgeon in the US.

But if what bobbyA said if true, I don't need to worry about the booster shots at all.

WOW ... that is awesome to know that booster shots are not required!!!

So I think we are set then.:idea::idea:

I will follow what you did.

:D:D:D I'm glad I kept asking questions on this. :jest::jest::jest:

Thanks.

I'm glad my experience helped :)

Does your fiancée have the smaller sealed envelope addressed to the USCIS as well? We didn't know about it prior to my-then-fiancée's interview, and after she was given the envelope we still didn't know what it was for :) It took us a while to realize that it might be the DS-3025 since "Vaccination Form" was printed on the envelope, and she remembered she was told at the Guangzhou medical facility that it was to be used in the U.S., but we didn't know it was for AOS.

Sometimes we make things a little too complicated than they need to be :) No one can blame us either because we're dealing with the USCIS :)

Hope all goes well for you!

I think we are getting very close to the final answer through this discussion...

She received 2 sealed envelopes.

One contained CD and another presumably contained medical exam results, and shot records.

Embassy only wanted the non-CD sealed envelope so that's turned in.

The "small sealed enveloped" you are talking about, is that something that she turned in during the interview,

and then got it back with passport and visa later? That's what we are expecting...hoping we're right on this.

But I thought this sealed envelope (and possibly the CD sealed envelope) needed to be turned in at POE?

Then what's left to file the AOS with?

Which sealed envelope did your fiancee turn in at POE?

In the case of my-then-fiancée, she did not bring anything else with her to the medical besides the interview letter and her passport. She did not bring any shot records, I don't think. But if your fiancée has records, by all means bring them just in case.

I have not heard/read of anyone having to wait for all the shots to be completed before coming. Everyone seems to receive just one round of shots and no more.

However, I have read about people (very few/rare) with medical issues revealed by the X-ray and blood test that delayed their coming to the U.S.

It is also my-then-fiancée's experience that you can go through the interview without turning in medical results. They will interview her but won't issue the visa until she turns in her medical results. This is no different that missing some other forms such Affidavit of Support during the interview. They'll just issue you a blue slip or whatever color slip to ask for the missing or incomplete document.

We experience a very close call because back in 2011 there were 2 medical facilities in Guangzhou that handles immigrant medical examinations. We picked the one that provided services on Saturdays. Big mistake because they had a problem with their blood work machine. We did not get her results that Saturday, and she had to turn in medical and other documents on Monday for an interview on Tuesday. It was a two-day affair back then.

Come Monday, we did not have her medical report. The medical facility even told us they called the consulate to reschedule our interview. It was very stressful. I went to the American Citizen Services to ask if we could turn in documents minus medical report. They officer said yes, so my-then-fiancée went. Come Tuesday Monday at 8:30am, they still could not give us the medical report. My fiancée went to the consulate while I went to the medical facility to ask for the report. I got it at 10am, rushed to the consulate, gave it to her just a few minutes before her interview. We passed the interview.

I hope no one else has to go through what we went through. Not fun :)

After reading Bobby's post, I started to recall reading several posting on boosters not being required.

Also, this site mentions that as well.

I will look for more links to that fact, but I'm very sure now that Bobby is right.

But still have few lingering questions on this "messy" step...and you can tag along for answers.:lol:

The CD is an X-ray image. Back in the stone age (2011), X-ray was in the form of a large film that they roll up into a tube :) No one (POE, consulate, etc) asked for it. We still have it at home in the closet :)

So she received the X-ray tube and larger sealed (white) envelope after her medical exam. She only turned in the larger sealed (white)envelope before the interview.

k-1 is different than immigrant visa types such as CR1 and IR1, where vaccination is required. You could skip vaccination in China for k-1 and only receive those shots after you get married in the U.S. and want to file for AOS in the U.S.

After my-then-fiancée passed the interview, she went and got her shots. She was then issued the yellow book, a copy of the DS-3025, and a smaller sealed (white) envelope addressed to the USCIS.

So she came into the U.S. with her X-ray, the smaller sealed (white) vaccination envelope and of course the big brown sealed envelope that came back with her passport.

She only turned in the big brown sealed envelop at the POE and not the sealed vaccination envelope.

Perhaps most people do not have the smaller sealed (white) envelope because they received vaccination at their medical exam.

It may be OK to turn in the DS-3025 your fiancée has for AOS although it's not in a sealed envelope, but be sure to make a copy (or multiple copies) in case the USCIS or USPS loses your AOS paperwork and you have to refile :)

Here again is the link that shows the front and back of the smaller sealed white envelope my-then-fiancée received after her shots:

I can confirm that X-ray images are not required at POE, I still have the one from the medical exam in Guangzhou for my F4 visa 13 years ago.

I see...its getting more clear every time you speak...

So we have some difference here....

My fiancee only received:

1. CD in a sealed envelope (which she has)

2. A sealed envelope (which she turned in to embassy during interview)

I'm not sure if this was big or small envelope

3. Yellow book

And your fiancee received these items that my fiancee didn't

4. Large tube of x-ray

5. DS-3025

6. Small (white) envelope addressed to USCIS

And of course we are waiting for the brown sealed envelope from embassy...now

I'm not worried about (4) above, but I have to check with my fiancee on (5) and (6)

which I don't believe she received after the medical exam/shots.

Also, your link to the image is not working...can you correct the link?

Thank much again...I'm sure googleplex is quietly listening in and thanking you as well. :D
