Let's call it like it is. America today is divided right down the middle of distinctive racial lines. I thought we were working our way through this years ago. What the hell happened? Easy. Hope and Change.

OMG U WENT THERE

I love a guy who looks like he could be on Criminal Minds as either an agent or a killer.

It's bad. I can't recall when things were this divided. I think some of the problem is so many have never seen real racism and oppression. People lose their mind because a police officer rests his hand on his gun or because some rent a cop wrongly accused someone of shoplifting. The cosntant screaming of racism over minor everyday #######, we all have to deal with has become deafening, to the point, most white people just tune it out or to be frank, are just fed up with it. Now we have this incident in which, black leaders are openly saying "they don't care about the evidence", they want a conviction. Wrap your mind around that. we use to call those things "lynch Mobs". Feathering the nest of poverty pimps, and race baiters has become full time jobs for many.

I have seen black prisoners beaten in jail cells, separate water fountains and bathrooms. I have seen a white man given a pass for running a School bus stop sign and killing a black child. what was the excuse. Well he, did not mean to and he was just in a hurry, the guy was never even arrested. I have lived in a time and place in which, although the county was 50% black, a black could not dream of holding public office, or heck even being a cashier at the local grocery store. I have had a conversation with the 4th grader sitting next to me in school, about what it was like to have bullets flying over their head, as white men shot into their home, because daddy dared speak up for equal rights. I can remember the back door to Sams restaurant, at which blacks could come to get a plate if they wanted one.

I am so sorry, if a security guard looked at you, when you were shopping or police officer acted nervous when he stopped you. Grow up. Not everything is about race, and yes you may still encounter some weirdo who is rude to you or insults you. Deal with it. Pull your pants up, put down your 40's and start installing some values in your kids. I am a white man who recognizes the past, recognizes the current plight to overcome poverty, but i am feed up with every ill of black society being blamed on the racism of people of my skin tone.

so..the entire shooting of the man in st. louis was caught on video. pretty crazy.

When are people going to learn.. NEVER RECORD VIDEO VERTICAL

I tried to count the shots.. at least 10.. But that was after thinking about it and watching it two more times.. I can see how the numbers are always all over the place when witnesses try to remember.

I think this is quite true, especially for us Northern liberals. I have seen minor incidents, but nothing like you and others have seen down South.

So, are you saying electing a black president made things worse?

You have SO MUCH racial tension. It's too bad you lost the ability to look at another human being without seeing the color of their skin and then use that as your case.

Actually I don't. It's a simple question. And the same goes for you and religion.

You appear to be so bored in your personal life that you devote your entire attention to inflaming or creating wars of race and religion? Surely you can find something positive to say about something? Anything for that matter. Can't you?

I'm always positive. You seem to be backed into a corner. I'll let this go. Peace be with you.

My 2c - racism is a complex subject and to really even begin to understand it you need a perspective that's a bit wider than the TV and your garden gate.

The first thing you need to do is attempt to remove yourself from the equation and look at the issue in an objective manner. From what you wrote above it is clear that you are unable to do that.

Firstly, you are framing your argument around an adversarial 'us and them' point of view. You seem to believe that because of a few high profile news stories that not only do black people not experience racism or racial inequality in the present day to any significant degree, but that any black person who attempts to talk about it has no legitimate voice with which to do so. That's a problem. Whatever you think about racism, there are clear economic and social problems affecting many black communities that are very well documented. It's not really sufficient to write all that off as a matter of laziness and immorality.

I agree with you that there are many examples of kneejerk accusations of racism, but when you consider that all of those things you mentioned (i.e. the separate water fountains and bathrooms for blacks and whites, blatant racial prejudice in the workplace etc.) are all within recent memory - Martin Luther King hasn't even been in the ground for 50 years - 50 years isn't a particularly long time for attitudes to change.

Secondly, you are making a blanket assumption that most white people share your perspective. You even say that "most white people just tune [racism] or to be frank, are just fed up with it". I don't think that's true at all. Even if this shooting has nothing to do with racial prejudice at all (I only say this because I haven't followed the story), the fact that something like this can cause major riots is an indication of a wider problem.

We had much the same thing happen over here - the London riots were the result of the Metropolitan Police shooting a black man called Mark Duggan. At least, that's apparently what the rationale was. Of course, just as in Ferguson a lot of the rioting was orchestrated by fringe extremist groups - but even so there was a definite sense of resentment and anger among the youth in inner city London that had been boiling over for some time.

It's easy to say 'pull your pants up', but you don't change people's attitudes by refusing to listen to their point of view.

Marvin is like my white friends, that watch Fox News 24/7 without ever balancing it with Cnn. The post post after post every night from far right blogs, and believe Hannity, when he Says ISIS has won because Obama was playing Golf. They are good guys, they just have their head in a tunnel and refuse to see the big picture.

Marvin is the same way, in that he keeps his head in inflammatory web sites like the root, and feed himself a daily diet of isolated incidents, in which some racial slight is perceived, until that is all he knows. When Oprah does not get shown a pocket book or some poor urban kid gets wrongly accused of shop lifting, he digests that feast of Powder Puff racism, until he is convinced the whole world hates him for being black.

yeah, marvin gets all his racial insights and perception from inflammatory websites and a steady diet of 'powder puff' racism (#######). in no way shape or form does his actual existence as a black man come into play.

i know you always think i'm hating on you, but this is one of the dumbest posts i've read from you. hall of fame dumb.
