fantasize? i thought what we had was real.

in this particular instance, your experience would only be comparable if you were talking about the treatment you received when going into predominately black neighborhoods. do you understand now?

Oh yes I get it. Marvin made a very racist blanket statement about white people. I gave an example to prove it was not true, at least in my neighborhood.

It does not count cause I am not black

probably depends on if the good experiences he's had have outweighed the bad. i could be wrong. i guess. it's happened a couple times.

I've had more good experiences than bad. The bad ones stick out because it's one of those things you try not to think about, but when you're caught up in it, you have to be mindful not to give into anger.

Growing up in STL, which used to be very racially divided, you had to know where you could and couldn't go. Like white people now who have apps to allow them to avoid "sketchy" areas(code for black), we had to be careful where we went since police were more likely to stop you. And since they weren't the nicest folks back then, it was best to just stay out of those areas.

I did 2 years in Fort Hood. 1995-1997. I'll say for the most part I was surprised. We only had one really bad racial incident I was a part of. Black guy dating a white girl, he started abusing her. Things got pretty divided fast. It was one of those times when I'm glad I kept a cool and rational chain of thought.

That's hard to do, but quite wise.

It does not count cause I am half black

You get half a point. You're welcome.

This is from my experience and quite a few others as well. On the other hand, I've been places and had people treat me like I was one of them, and I was the only black person around. Different places, different experiences.

That's how we should all treat each other.

dude. how does you being normal to a black person in your home prove your neighborhood would act in the same manner as you?

That was what I called blind racism. Just like when OJ got off for murder.

The black guy was clearly in the wrong. But because he was black and the girl was white, a lot of the black soldiers were in his corner. Even the women were backing him up, which I found appalling. The girl was staying with him because he loved him, but after the 3rd time she ended up in the hospital. At that point, I told her to press charges against him, but she was scared the black girls working with her would do something worse. I had to get the command involved. What's worse was I went to him before it got to that point and told him straight up to stop and get some help.

That's how we should all treat each other.

Amen.

he's giving you his experience and you don't buy it. i can't help that. you also don't believe white privilege is a real thing. you think that because you let a black kid in your house and feed him there aren't any scared white people living next door to you wondering what they hell you're doing letting the riff raff in. in my eyes the whole issue is an inability to perceive life through someone else's eyes. someone with a different experience that you can't ever actually have.

Good point. Many moons ago when I was in Jr. High, I think, we read a book for a class called "Black Like Me" I think that author got as close as possible to the experience that you speak of. It was an excellent read.

I am just tired of the double standard.

In the 20,30, 40 's in the part of the South I grew up in, all it took was for a white man to accuse a black man of something, guilt was unimportant, the cry for justice went up and the poor soul was either lynched or run thru a kangaroo court and sent off to many years of impoverishment or death. We as a society came to realize this kind of behavior could not be tolerated in a free society. Many a time the phrase "Justice" was echoed from a crowd, as the strung up yet another innocent black man.

Yet here we are in 2014, we have a white man accused of something, and very little facts are known. Yet the black community and it's leadership are calling for justice. They don't mean, they want it investigated, the facts to be uncovered, and if the evidence shows him guilty that he be punished. No the justice they scream for is the same justice, that the racist whites used in the 20's to incarcerate and kill black people. They don't want justice, no what they want is a lynch mob. Let's just be honest about it.

Also much like the uncle tom's of the same era, we have the white appeasers, that echo the same idiotic rhetoric, less they be labeled racist, or to appease the voters. Notice the Gov of Mo, last night did not say he wanted a vigorous pursuit of the truth. Screw the truth. He wants a vigorous pursuit of prosecution at all costs. The Gov of the state none the less. Now our President, who has proven he can not be impartial, is sending in Eric Holder, to ensure justice is done. That would be the equivalent of sending in Bull Conner, to make sure Rosa Parks was treated fairly.

I much like most of white America, who go about their daily business, just wanting to make a living and coexist with those around them, are growing weary of being labeled a racist and blamed for every ill of black society. How about justice for all the store owners, who have lost their life dreams this week. How about Justice for the many hundreds that are gunned down in the streets of Chicago, every weekend, reeling under many years of failed liberal polices. Lastly how about real justice, for a young police officer, who has never had a compliant filed against him for abuse of power, who has had his life destroyed by a hate filled racist spewing lynch mob.

It's like a gift. I can't control it.

Because the whole neighborhood was at my house that day. Neighborhood watch meeting

But you just said a few posts ago, that threatening to get shot is the Norm from White people ?

Good move letting the black kid in. As Don Corleone said to his son, keep your friends close, but your enemies closer.

I think he's been dipping into the pork ribs lately.
