or it's called you relaying a story of your own actions. you invited a black kid into your house and fed him. i would expect as much from you, considering you're not a racist.

marvin, i'm sure, has more than one experience of nervous white people in the suburbs reacting poorly to his presence. i have a couple of those stories myself. on the other hand, i know black people that live in the suberbs right alongside everyone else - as i'm sure marvin does as well.

it's not selective. it seems like you guys really want to believe that this sort stuff just isn't that common and black people are have a victim complex of sorts.

well Marvin said black people being threatened with guns is the norm in white neighborhoods. I have several experiences being threatened by black people, so does that mean that is the norm with black people ?

I keep getting told that because, young black males commit over 40% of the violent crime in this country, yet are only 3% of the population it is wrong to treat them with caution, and to do so makes me racist.

So then it is not racist to say getting shot is the Norm in all white neighborhoods based on one experience

Maybe because it's the only thing anyone here wants to talk about. Anytime the subject comes up, there's the bootstrap and responsibility speech that has been said here 1000 times. Why is this stat the only thing that matters to you?

Here is his direct quote

Marvin said--'My friends weren't the problem. When you're in a all white neighborhood, this is the norm."

he's giving you his experience and you don't buy it. i can't help that. you also don't believe white privilege is a real thing. you think that because you let a black kid in your house and feed him there aren't any scared white people living next door to you wondering what they hell you're doing letting the riff raff in. in my eyes the whole issue is an inability to perceive life through someone else's eyes. someone with a different experience that you can't ever actually have.

then i guess the mass overload coverage of this thing is having the desired effect. getting people scared, and really there's not much worse than a scared person with a gun.

also, creepy that smoke feels he's hand sculpting you. coming along nicely, lol.

hype.

Glad I'm not the only one.

do your spouses know you fantasize about me?

That's my point. I'm fully aware that all white people aren't racist. I'm also aware that anyone can be bigoted towards anyone else.

But yet when I gave my experience you quickly called it out as applying my experience and making generalzations. Tsk Tsk

I did 2 years in Fort Hood. 1995-1997. I'll say for the most part I was surprised. We only had one really bad racial incident I was a part of. Black guy dating a white girl, he started abusing her. Things got pretty divided fast. It was one of those times when I'm glad I kept a cool and rational chain of thought.

I was surprised as well when I moved here from Detroit in the 1980s. A lot of mixed race couples. That would've never been tolerated in Detroit from either white folks or black folks.

1980's? Wow, talk about progressive. It wasn't even thought of here until 1990-1991. Even then it was dangerous since there was always one person on either side of the family that wasn't willing to deal with it.

in this particular instance, your experience would only be comparable if you were talking about the treatment you received when going into predominately black neighborhoods. do you understand now?

My friends weren't the problem. When you're in a all white neighborhood, this is the norm.

Like I said, they have guns in those neighborhoods as well. Even in the stores, to protect them from being robbed. The reason they're not shooting them, probably because they understand the rage. Insurance covers it.

Rage is difficult to control. In general, mankind doesn't seem to do a good job at it. It is one of the Seven Deadly Sins.

I don't think so, aren't you talking about Wrath?

that's not how i read his comment, he gave a personal anecdote. i doubt marvin believes white people in the general suburbs of the usa have a gun ready and waiting for him.

I don't.

Yes, Wrath. I tend to use the two terms interchangeably.
