The point you're missing is this. Do you honestly believe there are no guns there? There are guns in these neighborhoods, but folks there are less likely to start shooting at looters than in a suburb.

What makes them less like to shot at looters in this place than any other? I'd think the opposite would be true. People in the suburbs are a bunch whussified BMW drivers worried about when the Dave Matthews concert is going to happen. They'll more than likely run away. People in these high crime areas are probably tired of it.

Glad I'm not the only one.

Don't get to excited there sunshine. Looks like NB is pulling the same bit on you.

People should have a right to defend their home and business against looters, with deadly force if needed.

There's this thing called insurance. I'm sure you've heard of it. I just find it sad that killing someone seems to be the only answer.

Why should I have to go thru all the hassle of rebuilding my life, paying deductibles, premiums going thru the roof, loss of income, to give someone else the right to loot and burn my lifes dream unmolested.. Really Marvin ?

Nope. Ask any black person and they'll tell you the same thing. Either the home owners OR the police, the outcome will still be the same. Don't get me started when I've been in all white neighborhood at a party. I knew already the homeowner was armed and ready to shoot me and my friends at a moment's notice, he let us know the whole time we were there.

Seems you should find new friends and stop going to parties thrown by weirdos.

So then the solution seems to be to arm the business owners in lower income neighborhoods. I agree!

So killing someone is more convenient than all that? I'm not saying you have to let them take it, but unless you harm me or my family, I can replace anything they steal.

A movie had a quote from a follower of Islam: "If you break something, you can rebuild it. If you steal something, you can get it replaced. But if you kill a man, there's no way to make it right with him, or his family." It's something to ponder when the follower of the religion of peace and love, is one of the few people trying to avoid bloodshed.

My friends weren't the problem. When you're in a all white neighborhood, this is the norm.

Like I said, they have guns in those neighborhoods as well. Even in the stores, to protect them from being robbed. The reason they're not shooting them, probably because they understand the rage. Insurance covers it.

What we’re seeing in Ferguson, this is not a local issue, really. I mean, this is something that’s been driven by national policies, by policies that Congress has approved of and has oversight of, and could end tomorrow, if they wanted to.

***

The idea that when we take domestic police officers and we train them like soldiers and we give them military gear and we dress them up like soldiers and we tell them they’re fighting a war—you know, war on crime or war on terror—they’re going to start to see themselves as soldiers. And that’s just a mindset that’s not—that really isn’t appropriate for domestic policing. And I think you saw that in the way that they responded to protests—not just in Ferguson, but also, you know, a lot of the crackdowns on the Occupy protesters, on the crackdowns at the political conventions over the years. I mean, this has become our default response to protest in the U.S., and it’s something that, you know, I think could be very antagonistic toward the very idea of free speech and the First Amendment.

Not the norm in North Texas. Maybe you should move.
