They did release the pictures and video of robbery claiming it was not directly related to the shooting - weak and self serving if they are not releasing the rest.

exactly. what better way to fuel a growing race riot than to hold back on the release of information regarding the officer's injury but let the 'not directly related' robbery footage fly. zero sense.

reporting the injury of an officer involved in a shooting death should be a pretty basic verification and release. it makes zero sense for the police not to give that information to the public as soon as they have it.

Well yeah there's a dead guy in the street. I think they released that he is in fact dead and that the cop shot him. Everything else is pretty much speculation at this point.

It makes absolute sense because they are covering their bums. They have a murderer in their midst, a f*ckton of terrible policy at their feet, and an upset public waiting for answers.

I would say exactly the same thing if the colors were reversed or if one of them was gay or from Neptune or a life form made of gravy.. Don't assume because color is swaying your opinion that it is swaying mine.

They chose to release that they should release everything... I hadn't really thought it through until you had mentioned but yeah that was not too bright.

I get my news from Gawker and Jezebel. I then mash the two reports up and make my own assumptions based on that.

We don't know if he was running away. You make every assumption against the police you *might* be wrong.

If the officer shot the kid in the back or while he was trying to surrender or was not an immanent threat then he should be charged. I did not say he was innocent - he may be guilty.

In the past in a cops word against another person I would take the cops word unless there was a strong reason not to.. These days I grit my teeth because I am not confident in either side so like everyone else I'm grasping at what facts come out and pretending to not be biased.

I can't honestly answer about how the media have been handled by the police, I have not done enough reading on it.
