Why are we talking about Chicago? Me and Janelle get slammed if we talk about race, guess that's part of the privilege.

Very simple. You both tried to weave other stories into the Ferguson tragedy and got mixed up on the facts of this case. The optics are clear in that the story of Ferguson is about two human beings: the white police officer and a young black male. Those who mentioned Chicago are wondering why so much attention is being paid to a story where no one yet knows the facts. So, if Ferguson deserves a visit from Eric Holder regarding this unfortunate incident, then don't you think it would be a good idea for him to visit the families of those who were wounded and lost their lives in Chicago this past weekend? Again, that was 29 wounded and 7 deaths. That's a lot of lives to ignore wouldn't ya say?

I'm afraid the black community has hitched their wagon to another losing cause. Nothing to do with race here, just like there was nothing to do with race in the TM/GZ spectacle. VJ and CNN will make a lot of ad revenue, and more people will needlessly die all over the country and we'll never even know their names.

i don't think that the black community hitched on to this cause because it was about race. it was about police brutality - still is. these things don't just happen, the protests that are going on right now are a build up of years of mistreatment by law enforcement.

Who knows. It's a stupid sign either way.

I assume they mean they wont be happy unless the cop is sacrificed by going to prison.

and there weren't autopsy results that indicated the cop should be charged with murder?

it just completely blows my mind that everyone is cool with a cop shooting to kill like that.

Well I'm sure there's a lot of cases of police brutality throughout the country where the police beat someone down without justification. This however doesn't seem to be one of them. In the end it'll more than likely be justifiable homicide. A cops life will be ruined and absolutely nothing good will come of it.

That sign seems to suggest that this cop should be made to pay for perceived on going injustices regardless of his guilt/innocence in this case. That makes it dumb.

I assume you skipped a few pages in this thread since you posted the above.

Probably the majority are. We only hear about the bad ones in any situation like this, just like New Orleans after Katrina.

Yes. And that's part of the problem. Morons (or morans if you prefer) ruin it for everyone.

Watching this idiocy on TV, it makes me wonder about all the businesses in the area that are closed. I wonder if the employees are being paid. What about them?

That's usually the case. Just like the nonsense after a sports team wins a championship, burning cars, etc. There are always a few idiots in every crowd. Except here, of course.

Oops! It looks like everyone forgot about them.

Do you think they would be out there if it was a white cop that killed a white guy or a black cop that killed a black guy?

It boggles my mind that anyone on earth would be disappointed to hear the truth. This poor young man is dead. Either by his own idiocy, or at the hand of a murderous cop gone rogue. If you continue to listen to CNN and read the headlines they posted today and believe it empirically, it will become more difficult for you to accept and hear the truth. As for CNNs headlines today regarding the autopsy evidence against the police officer, it only stood online for about one hour before the transcripts the private doctors conclusions. Both doctors clearly stated that there was no conclusive evidence to establish the narrative being sold to consumers on CNN and MSNBC. I paraphrased a bit, but nevertheless that is just the way it is right now.
