Both statements are true. And like you said, not easy. It does start at home. If you don't have the right role models, it's an uphill battle compounded on the institutionalized racism already embedded in the system. But, like I said this is years and years of oppression. And getting rid of it is going to take a lot of time, probably won't even see it in our lifetime. That mentality has been burned into the community.

I was playing last of us this weekend. One of my squad members is a 15 year old black teenager. When I met him, he used to say the N-word like he couldn't help it. I've started to finally get to him, and he's not saying it anymore. He said he met another black guy online and this guy hated black people. He was going all about how we were lazy and criminal, worthless, etc. He asked me how is this even possible. I responded we've been taught to hate each other and ourselves. This is why I want you to be better than what you are now. Don't give them a reason to see you that way.

I think if the black community starts today, it will take another generation to make a big change. In some ways, much of the last 50 years has been wasted, not by all, but by far too many. One statement stands out in my mind that you made a while back. Your mother said something to the effect that you had to be near perfect, just because you were black. You had to strive even harder to show people you weren't like the others. I think it's sad that it has to be that way, but your mother is a wise woman. Now the majority of the community needs to be infected with that idea. And believe it. You did, Obama did and lots of others are doing it. Spread the good news.

Dude, I had a cop to pull me over one. I am only like 5 ft 150 lbs. He had his hand on his gun the whole time he talked to me, even with my hands on the steering wheel. One wrong move he would have shot me.

Now, let's imagine this same cop have to confront a 6 foot dude over 200lbs. The trigger finger itches because they have all been taught the big black guy is out to get them. unfortunate but true.

We got KKK in the police force. What do you think they are teaching the cops? Not peace and prosperity with blacks and singing Kumbaya

That is not abnormal. They are required to be prepared for the worst. He has no idea if you are as sweet as his grandmother or a meth-head who just hid a body somewhere. I think most times I was pulled over, the officer had his hand on his gun, thumb behind the snap.

It might also alarm you to know that their guns are locked and loaded, and that Glocks don't have a conventional safety. It's draw, point, pull...

I don't think her comments are aimed at you.

There's a distinct change in attitude when black people are involved in this forum. We have to talk about the entire black community(something that Janelle and myself are tired of trying to defend since we do the right thing, but are still considered a part of). It's never focus on the victim/perp. It's the culture, it's black people as a whole. It's us sucking on the govt teet. But when a white person goes on a killing spree or we're talking about a white person, unless they're a liberal Democrat, not a peep.

Look at the Jesse Jackson thread you started. Then take a look at the Rick Perry thread I started. The outrage in your thread, you'd think JJ jr committed multiple murders. Over in my thread, it's almost tranquil in there.

Folks say we are race obsessed. And yet when the perp is black, our skin color is the FIRST thing they focus on.

Nice of you to try to come to her rescue, but she directly quoted me, and said what she did. So I am asking her to give her the benefit of a doubt before I say more.

Not normal, I know, a white person giving a black person a chance to clarify. What's this world a-coming to?

we have already covered the never happens to white people angle. You and I both know it's not true.

Once again, which group in America makes his case about Race?

Name me the white person that buys a belt and gets arrested a few blocks away.

From the regularity of which you have brought this up lately, it sounds like it is a common thing for blacks.

I trust you have several links, cuz I would learn more of these regular happenings.

I know what you're trying to say. So I'll try to word this as best as I can since we can't talk face to face, yet.

Here's my take. I should be just as good as anyone else. This is one of the issues that should be fixed on the other side. I think we as a people can do better, for damn sure. But it's asking a lot to knock it out of the park every time in order just to get a place on the team when a white person can make base hits and take the MVP. But, like you said, it's not right, but that's how it is.

I found myself telling my sons the same thing, you have to be better than the folks you're competing against because they're bi-racial.

Glad you asked.

http://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/Black-Teenager-Lawsuit-Barneys-Belt-NYPD-Purchase-Detain-Fake-Identification-228915061.html

Trayon Christian told NBC 4 New York on Wednesday that he saved up from a part-time job for weeks to buy a Salvatore Ferragamo belt at Barneys.

When he went to the store to buy it in April, he says the checkout clerk asked to see his identification. After the sale went through and he left the store, he was approached by police about a block away, and asked "how a young black man such as himself could afford to purchase such an expensive belt," according to a lawsuit filed Tuesday in Manhattan Supreme Court.

Officers hauled Christian to the local precinct, where he showed police his identification, as well as his debit card and the receipt for the belt, the lawsuit says.

Police still believed Christian's identification was fake, and eventually called his bank, which verified it was his, according to the complaint. Christian, who has no prior arrests, was released.

A second black customer, Kayla Phillips, came forward Wednesday, telling the New York Daily News and the New York Post that she was harassed by police after buying a $2,500 Céline handbag from the upscale store.

Phillips, a 21-year-old nursing student from Brooklyn, told the newspapers that four officers approached her in a nearby subway stop minutes after the purchase and asked her why she used a temporary debit card to buy the bag. Phillips said she had just opened a new bank account when she bought the purse.

Rob Brown, in a scathing new 42-page federal class-action lawsuit, charged that Macy’s “policies and practices have left ... customers of color feeling victimized, humiliated, traumatized” from coast to coast.

The Manhattan court filing cited 14 other minority customers who sued Macy’s alleging they were singled out for criminal suspicion because of their race.

In a second federal lawsuit against the NYPD, Brown leveled similar charges in a New York class action over the alleged police targeting of minority shoppers.

That's the story of my life," Davis said at her film's premiere. "My gosh, I mean, that's been happening since the beginning of time. I'm going to go into the store and you're just gonna have to follow me and you're gonna waste about, I don't know, an hour or half-hour of your time following me because I'm not going to steal anything.”

well you said white people never get ruffed up or shot by the police. I proved that wrong.

I doubt I can find you an example of a white person being falsely accused of shoplifting, not because it does not happen all the time, but because when it does it does not make national news

well then you should know you're incorrect.

Ok , so white people are looting and burning. I heard that earlier. I think the theory was they were disguising themselves as black people
