Thanks for bringing up the subject of what races are responsible for how much crime. Here's some numbers for you.

Black people make up 13% of the population, yet are responsible for:

49.4% of murders

32.5% of forcible rape

54.9% of robbery

34.1% of aggravated assault

30.8% of burglary

29,0% of larceny

30.8% of motor vehicle thefts

33.2% of Embezzlement (Is this the white collar crime you're referring to?)

I could go on and on. The only crime where blacks don't commit crimes at a proportional rate to their population makeup, is DWI. And they're real close there at 12.1%.

Until then, I think you should learn to judge people based off of the individual they are, not the racial group they are associated with.

So what you're saying in theory is that if black people commit 99.9% of the crime and white people commit .1% of the crime, I should not comment on it until white people are committing 0.0% of the crime. I'd called that flawed logic if there was any logic at all. Unfortunately there is none.

one being that the majority of black people are predisposed to criminal activity

- the second being that the majority of black people have more constant interaction with cops and are more likely to gain a cops attention (profiling).

i don't think many on vj believe profiling is a problem so only number one is left, unless there's a viewpoint i've not heard yet.

I don't think that black people are predisposed to crime simply because they're black. That's racist and ignorant. I think there's multiple reasons for the disparity. The breakdown in the family unit being one of them. The culture of making a living off of public assistance another one. I think public assistance is a good thing and it should be there. However, it should not become a way of life for generation after generation. That's definite recipe for failure. The current administration has gone crazy with this govt. assistance business, and I'd argue that they're failing these folks when they do that, rather than helping them. Even Clinton (the first black president) realized this, and instituted welfare reform programs.

As to the second, that's kind of a chicken and egg thing. Are there more blacks being arrested because they commit more crimes, or are the cops patrolling black areas because there's more crimes committed there.

There's clearly more than two ways to look at the issue. It's not as black and white as you make it. Pun intended.

Don't be a dumbarse. Humans commit crime, period. No one here is trying to say "whites don't commit crime". It's an INDIVIDUAL choice to break the law or not.

If you cannot grasp that whites are ~77% of the population and that blacks are ~13%, then you have a comprehension problem (which I think is not the case). If 13% of the population is committing 49% of all murders, 33% of all rapes, 55% of all robberies (the list goes on), don't you see that there is a trend here?

Here's a fact for you... a smaller percentage of the population (that decides to commit crime) is white vs. black, in spite of the fact that the whites outnumber the blacks 6 to 1. So stop trying to make this a racist argument. The numbers do not lie... a higher percentage of blacks commit crimes than whites overall.

But what does that matter?? It does not mean that blacks are more evil than whites. Or that whites are better than blacks.

What it means is that there are a higher percentage of blacks that choose to commit crime than whites. And so? Who gives a shite? Are you a criminal? Does it hurt your feelings that lots of people with the same color of skin choose to break the law?

Due to the economic disparity between blacks and whites, it makes sense there's more white people in the position to commit white collar crime than black people. I don't know if there's numbers out there that show how many white folks are in white collar positions and how many black folks are in white collar positions. I suppose if you had those numbers you draw a somewhat clearer picture of white collar crime by race. To put it simply, it's hard for a black CEO to rip off a corporation, if no black CEOs exist. Again that's putting it in very simple terms.

I'd bet if you looked at crime numbers related to Meth, you'd see that white folks are probably 10 times more likely to be busted for Meth than black folks, because that seems to be a drug that white people tend to abuse for whatever reason. The opposite maybe true of crack. That doesn't mean that no black people use Meth and no white people use crack, it's just means that one race abuses one drug over another for whatever reason. Personally I prefer crack over Meth, but that's just me. I try to be different.

I was looking at the disability numbers awhile back. It pays more than regular social security, and you don't have to be 62+ to get it. I have multiple family members on disability. right, i was thinking more along the lines of all the white collar crime that goes completely unchecked. is it a crime if you're not caught? anyway i'm not interested in breaking down crimes by race, i'm more interested in going beyond the white collar crime, the real high dollar sort.
