After I got married I never made a name change on my passport.

will that cause a problem for me when turning in documents to NVC or with Embassy?

Would it be good to make that change before the interview?

I did not change mine yet and i am just waiting on the case complete in NVC. I know some applicant that they use their maiden name and there were no issue.

I don't think it will cause any problem. I submitted all documents to NVC and my passport still has my maiden name because its not expired yet.

Not requied. My wife didn't change her name and was never even raised, asked, mentioned anywhere. However, if that an come to your head, that may come to the IO's mind and may throw it as a question and your spouse should be ready to answer that. Just something casual (that didn't even cross our mind could be an answer :-) or changing name takes time and we did not want stay apart for too long :-) sounds cheesy though) can help in this case.

You do not need to change your surname.

However be aware that the visa comes in the passport name and the green card then comes in the Visa name. The next available time to change the green card is either by paying $450 to do so, waiting for ROC (if you are CR1) or when you renew the green card. So if you ARE wanting to use your married surname, I highly suggest having your passport updated by the interview.

Yes I am the petitioner and when we got married I took his name.

the reason why I ask this question is because the name on my passport

is not my maiden name but that of my previous married name and I was

concerned that my passport was still under that name.

all my other like my license and social have been changed to marriage name.

and when I sent in paperwork I realized my passport wasn't redone.

So would it be good to make sure this is taken care of before interview?
