Apply for B-2 while in the US?

Hi, I'm already in US right now; legal status with a B-2 visa.

I'd like to visit again in one year; may I apply while I'm in the US? There is no US embassy at home (I live in Iran so no US base.) Normally I'd travel to third country (be that Turkey, UAE, or somewhere.) Though since I'm here now, I'm wondering: may I apply for next visa here?

Thank you very much for help in advance.

No, you can only apply for an extension or a change of status, but not a visa.

When does your current visa expire?

You can't apply a visa within the US. You have to apply to the US embassy. But you can ask the extension of it with some specific reason. Take a look of this link.

F1H1I130, thanks for your quick response to my question!

My visa expires mid-September; though I'm returning home in couple weeks.

Thank you again for clarification!

Thank you for the prompt response to question!

Not possible.

Thanks for your kind and fast reply here; I'm not looking to extend the visa. I'll have to follow normal process then.

Not accurate. You can apply for an extension of stay in the U.S. (i.e., extend the time period on the I-94 issued at the port of entrt), but you cannot apply to extend the visa (the validity date of which determines whether you are eligible to apply at a port of entry for admission to the U.S.). There is no way to extend a visa -- in or out of the US -- all you can do is submit a new application which, as others have pointed out, can only be done outside the US.

That's actually what I meant. And I included the official link from USCIS in case some people misunderstood my explanation.
