I am an Irish citizen living and working in South Africa, I met my American boyfriend here in South Africa, he was also here working but he had to go back to the USA for an amazing Job opportunity. I want to go join him so I am investigating all possible routes.....

Firstly I know I can travel there on the ESTA waiver for 90 days but then I'm struggling to find information on what the rules are regarding multiple visits and how long I must wait between visits.

Secondly is it illegal to get married while on the ESTA waiver?

Thirdly he has a good job and could support me but I would prefer to be able to work, would that be possible?

No visas for boyfriends, you can visit 90 days. No hard rules on how much visiting per year is allowed, but it is done on a case by case basis, and generally you want to stay out as much or more than you stay in the US. If they think you are sort of living in the US, then they will deny you entry.

If you want to get married, you can seek the fiance visa, the K-1.

You can get married in the US on your tourist visa/ESTA, but you cannot plan to immigrate on that visa. If they think your marriage will lead to immigration than they can deny you entry.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!
