That's a long time yo.

I have a 5k Sunday. Eating pizza after that. Earned!

eat the night before. It will give you much more in the run. Once in a blue moon in basic, they would let the Pizza guy come thru and sell pizza. PT in the Infantry was always painful, and I bet we burned over 5k calories a day. However on the day after pigging on Pizza, I could tel la big difference.

I just don't know about my elliptical. I have a nice Precor, and it get's my heart rate up. However i walked about 2 miles both afternoons in the Mountains. There were some awful hills. I really felt that much more.

5k isn't really a long enough distance to carb up ya know. I'll prob burn 300 something calories nothing too much. I'll have a reasonable, non-spicy (key) meal the night before and no breakfast because I'm a big baby when it comes to running with food in my stomach. Can't handle it.

That is not real far for a guy in decent shape. Back in the day that would have taken me 18 mins +/-

My elliptical says I burn north of 700 calories. Not sure that is accurate

Oh bull, if you were in the army, I bet you could do a 5k sub 30 for sure. Prob in full gear.

Here's the deal with the elliptical. There was a guy telling me today he does 40 minutes on the elliptical everyday, then 20 on the treadmill. That seems crazy to me. I can do a 10k in a little under an hour and it's a serious workout for me. I only do that once a week and I couldn't possibly do it everyday. He said he goes at a slow pace but still, an hour of sustained activity at any pace isn't something anyone can just up and do you know?

Oh and 700 calories would be expected for an hour long sustained workout. It will vary based on intensity and weight.

I went back and fixed that. My old mind was thinking about my 2 mile run time which was usually between 11 and 12. So 5K would have been around 17-18

That's fast man.

Yes for one brief shinning moment I got down really skinny and ran all the time. I think my fastest PT test was 11:05 in the 2 mins. Smoke a lot of weed back then, also which I am sure was not good for a runner.
