So, I open this thread to mainly complain about the system.

Here is my story so far:

I mailed my I-485 package on 1st July and they received it on the 3rd.

Got my receipts on 24th of July. OK I know it is in the acceptable range, but when you see people who mailed theirs a week or 2 after me already had their biometrics done, what do you think?

No the end of the story yet: yesterday, 12th Aug, still NO BIOMETRICS LETTER!

So I called them, and they did reply (the local office I guess) through email saying that they mailed the letter out on the 2nd of August. And my appointment is 8/19/2014. OK, it is only 6 days left, counting a Sunday too. No information regarding resending me a letter or what not.

So, I had to call them again and stayed on hold for 40 mins! They asked for a fax number so they could fax me the letter, sure, I said i didnt have one. So, well, they couldn't help me if I didnt have a fax number that was what they said.

I had to go to a Fedex store, got the fax number, called them again and stayed on hold for 90 mins (On hold, I mean, I used the call back thing, they called back 90 mins later). This time the officer was not nice at all. He didn't let me explain and told me to just tell him yes or no to his questions...anyways, I gave him the fax number. He promised to fax me the biometrics letter.

All in all, it is now 5pm, still no fax received at all!!!!!! I'm really really really frustrated and I'm writing to let my frustration out in here, sorry guys.

Now, can I say that I really hate them now?

And BTW, I probably have to call them again tomorrow. What if the end up not getting anything from them? What should I do? Thanks!

errrrrrr!

I am so sorry to hear that... What I think is that biometrics had been sent but got lost somewhere in the mail, it happens :( have you ever changed address? I think you need to call ASAP, maybe tomorrow there will be another person to answer your phone call, a more nice one, because without the paper you cannot do your biometrics. Maybe kindly ask them to resend the letter with appointment. You still have 5 days... I will stay here and listen to what other people will say though...

I am sorry :(

Thank you so much for your response. I'm definitely gonna call them tomorrow. I'll update the status. Hope no one else experience this.

Try going to the uscis website. Click on tools, then click on submit an online request about your case. There should be an option about a document/notice not being received. Try putting that through. I put one through regarding another issue and today I received a new copy of my biometrics letter.

Here is what I would do. Call the minute they open up. I believe its 8:00am local time from the current location where you are calling from. I did that twice in the past 6 months and had a wait time of less than 90 seconds each time.

Second, I would sign up for a free fax to email set up. It worked great for me and basically its a fax number that USCIS can use and instead of having to pay money and waste your time at FEDEX it notifies you when the fax has been received and will send you an email and the fax is converted to a PDF that you are able to print out. That is obviously if you have a computer and printer at home. Here is the website I used for that service: http://www.myfax.com/free-30-day-trial.aspx

Once you receive the fax from USCIS, you can cancel the service and not be charged a dime.

Third, if you get a customer service rep when you call, ask to speak to their supervisor. Do it very politely and inform them you have called multiple times and you need this resolved today.

Hope this helps.

Mike

The letter isn't dated for some reason. I'd try both though, do the service request online yourself AND call this morning. Cover all the bases :)

Hi Guy, I have some good news! First, thank you all for the suggestions I did all of them lol. And I did sign up the fax service mcuzin1985 suggested and it worked really well! I also used the tool to request another letter.

I got the fax in the morning, the resolution is very bad though. But it is better than having nothing. So I did the walk in in Durham office which is 20 mins away in the afternoon. The office was very empty and I was the only one who was going to do biometrics at that time, it went really well, the lady who took my finger prints was really nice. The entire process took only 10 mins. The only problem was that she was unable to scan the faxed letter due to the poor resolution, but she said it happened every time when they faxed letters.

When I got back home, I found the original biometrics letter sitting in my mailbox. So ironic! With the date marked 08/02/2014, mailed from the office 20 mins away.

All in all, this little story now has a happy ending. Now start the wait~~

Thank you guys so much for your help :) I really appreciate it :)
