Did anyone get check listed for this? This is my second checklist. First one was for missing info on I864A and now this. I thought my wife would have to bring in police certificate when she goes in for interview in embassy. If this was needed why didn’t they put it on first check list?

______CORRESPONDENCE INSTRUCTIONS:_________________________________

When responding to the National Visa Center, please include the bar code sheet that came with this

letter. Failure to include the bar code sheet may cause a delay in the processing of your case. The bar

code sheet should be placed on top of all documents being submitted for this case and mailed to the

address provided.

______

______10 - SERBIA POLICE CERTIFICATE:______________________________

Available. Citizens of Serbia may obtain police certificates (Izvod iz kaznjene evidencije) from the

Secretariat for Internal Affairs (SUP-Sekretarijat unutrasnjih poslova. The police certificate documents

whether the applicant has been convicted of any crimes and the articles of law involved. NOTE : A

second party, such as the Embassy, may not request police certificates on individuals to independently

verify someone's background. The Consul must rely on certificates requested by the individual in

person. The potential for fraudulent documentation exists, and cannot be encountered through separate

official means of verification. (End NOTE ).

Application for a police certificate should be submitted to the police authority at the applicant's place of

residence. People who reside in the same district where they were born will have the fastest service, as

all civil records are maintained at the citizen's place of birth. For citizens born in a different district from

where they reside, the police authority will request information from the person's town of birth, and the

response time will vary. Based on input from the place of birth, police at the place of residence will

issue the final official version of the certificate. Regardless, every citizen should be able to obtain this

certificate. At present, this certificate is available at a minimum cost, (approximately $.25).

This certificate should not be confused with the certificates issued by courts (Sudsko uverenje) that

cover only the period of the past six months and indicate the absence of any investigation, charge or

conviction in that period. The police certificate is comprehensive and automatically covers from birth.

Citizen records are indexed by the family name of the citizens, but they can be accessed by the unique

registry number assigned each citizen, much like the U.S. social security number. The purge procedure

of records is unknown. According to the Ministry of Interior, non-citizens who once resided in

Montenegro, and are now in their native country, may apply for police certificates with their local

Ministry of Foreign Affairs who will then, through diplomatic channels, contact the Embassy of

Montenegro in that country. Non-citizens who once resided in Serbia, and are in a third country now,

may apply with their Embassy in that country, who will then, through diplomatic channels, contact the

Embassy of Serbia.

You have to send her Police certificate with your DS 260 supporting documents. They may also ask her to take a recent one with her to the interview.

Ok I filed out DS 260 online didn’t know it had to be sent with financial support documents. So I have to send one to NVC and wife has to bring one to interview to? I know at least ten people who told me they had to bring police report to the interview at embassy. This is my second checklist am I missing anything else? Court and prison records? What else is supposed to go with DS 260? Still don’t know why they didn’t put that on first checklist?

Thanks for the link i wish i found this before.

Ok I screwed up on IV Package.

I called the operator at NVC last night and asked them about my checklist. He said all I need to send is the police certificate and it doesn’t have to be original I can send copies. Asked him twice and he said that’s all I need. Now aim confused. On here it says they have to be originals. I also see this list I found on the link you provided and all of that I sent with my I-130. Like two photos, birth certificate, marriage certificate etc...All but that police report that I now have to wait for. It will take two weaks for the report to come thru then another 30-60 days for them to proces it at NVC..grrr this is frustrating :(

Generally, the following is needed:

-Bar-coded cover sheet from payment portal

-Cover letter (optional)

  • You can find a sample cover letter I wrote here [19]

-Two passport-style photographs (2" x 2") of beneficiary (on the back, write: beneficiary's full name, date of birth, and case number)

-Copy of bio-data page of beneficiary's unexpired passport

-Original or Certified Copy of beneficiary's birth certificate, PLUS A PHOTOCOPY

-Original or Certified Copy of marriage certificate, PLUS A PHOTOCOPY

-Original police certificate(s)

Please read the link here [20] for additional documents if applicable (such as petitioner documents in IR-5 cases or divorce/military records or proof of permanent residency, etc).

Also read the country-specific documents found here [21] (start typing the beneficiary's country in search box, choose it, then click 'Go'). There may be additional documents needed not listed above.
