Hi, first post so apologies if it's in the wrong place.

I am an 18 year old Brit, I am an engineering apprentice and will be fully qualified with a HNC in 2016 (not sure if that would change anything). I want to move to the US to work and travel for at least a year. I would like to move from state to state and job to job just to help financially, because of this, even if I was qualified enough to apply for a permanent job in the US I wouldn't want to as it would confine me to one state and stop me travelling, which is the whole purpose of the trip. I don't really want to work in a summer camp or any other cultural exchange programs as, again, it would tie me down too much. Is there a visa that will let me work wherever I want in the US for an extended period of time or am I looking for something that does not exist?

Thanks

Kyle.

So nothing even close to what I'm after? I don't want to go over there to do exactly what I'm doing in the uk

So here's a question - why billions of people that want to go to work in US, are not here yet ? Why would you be the one that would have this easily available ?

Answers are - you either have to be qualified and wanted by employers, have US citizen family or win a DV lottery (which UK is not eligible for if I remember correctly).

You can also invest $1M and get an investor visa...

Most work and training visa are related to a single employer and those are (work ones) not easy to get. Permanent residency is what would truly allow you to do what you want to do.

So essential you want to come to the US, work when you want, work where you want, and work for however long you want.

Such an 18 year old mentality.

Sorry, no. Can you imagine what the US would be like if that was the case?

good luck

The reason I am asking is because I know I am not eligible for anything you have just mentioned. I have looked into enough to know that my chances are slim, I was just looking for advice, not a telling off...

Pretty much.

An 18 year old mentality? Perhaps because I am 18 and have yet to have my ambitions taken out of me by age

Thanks, looks like I will need it!

Then I guess you really don't want to visit/work/travel in the United States.
