OMG, you ARE human, after all! If ever the two of us shall meet in person, I shall buy ye a hefeweisen in honor of Robin.

Mine too. Nothing but fond memories of him over the years. As a person who tries to make others laugh, I can see how he may not have been happy, because trying to make everyone smile is a task not to be taken lightly.

And for those who think ill of the suicidal, shame on you unless you have experienced the sadness that leads up to such a sad decision. It has been said that suicide is "the coward's way out", but those who have come close know better.

Depression is real and facing it alone can be a very dark path, indeed.

If anyone you know suffers from depression, be aware and pay close attention to the signs. Be the friend that they need. If you suffer from depression, don't suffer alone. Help is out there.

As somebody who suffers with depression, I found the news of his death both saddening and unsurprising. I hope that, at the very least, his untimely death promotes a greater understanding, acceptance and tolerance of depression as what it is: an illness. I hope it gets talked about more, and that people stop hiding it away.

It seems he spent much of his life making other people smile, while he fought within himself. It should not have to be this way for anybody.

At least he's free now.
