So I sent in a document to rev.com to be translated from Dutch to English, got it back, and the amount of errors in it is ridiculous. Even something as simple as copying "age: 33" they messed up and wrote "age: 35", and also messed up copying the serial number printed on the document. I've already sent an email back listing all the mistakes and the same translator is going to revise, but I've lost confidence in their abilities and still have other documents which I need translated. Ironic thing is, I myself am actually a translator English-Dutch-Japanese but haven't been translating long enough to be certified. Is it possible for me to do the translations myself? Or would that constitute a conflict of interest? I also have a friend who has a minor in translating English-Dutch whom I trust a lot more than this rev.com buffoon but is also in no way certified, could it also be an option to have my documents translated by him instead? Thanks :)

If fluent in both of the relevant languages then you can perform the translation yourself.

That would certainly be good for my blood pressure seeing as I'm about to pop a vein over this asshat "translator". I've found a lot of conflicting information online about doing it yourself though, just needed to double check :)

You just have to include a short statement indicating that you are fluent in both languages.

I don't have the exact form to hand but no doubt a quick search will yield it for you.
