sorry, i thought you might spend some time on the internet and have a working knowlege of abbreviations.

nb = often used (on this board) abbreviation for our very own NATURE BOY

surely you've been clued in on what "BS" means, my grandmother (who doesn't internet at all) uses this term. "cow poo" might help. still nothing?

TBT = this is relatively new (hold on to your facebook password) so i can understand why you might not be hip to this particular abbreviation. i'll let you do your own research on this one, try a google search and your reading glasses.

Why is what Obama said not BS, but GWB saying Mission accomplished is ?

what obama said is bs, but that doesn't excuse the true lineage of iraq bs - which is much MUCH more deserving of outrage. i mean, we went to war under completely false pretenses. imagine if obama manages to pull off going to war under the same onslaught of total lies.

Yes Bush owns the IRAQ mess. Obama did not help. He was a like a coach that took over a 1-12 team and still went 1-12 for 4 years.

People are too polarized to see common sense arguments.

I think that very thing to about half of the posts you make...

Obama inherited a mess - he then decided to walk away from the obligation.. That is what allowed the new groups to step in.. Who else could possibly be blamed for that piece? Maybe some generals gave him some bad advice?

I think he did a brilliant job in Syria with getting the chemical weapons removed though bluffing the Russians. I like some of the philosophy he recently stated about concentrating on smaller steps, smaller wins and working behind the scenes (where Clinton was brilliant).. I would shower him with praise if Iraq and Afghanistan had worked out because I was shocked at the time when the timetables were announced for pulling out... How many here heard those timelines and said to yourselves "No way! How can that possibly workout?" How many said "Well, now the extremest know our timetables I guess they will just wait it out." - I know I'm not the only one..

Yes now hat was balanced. Bravo. I think we said the same thing, but you used grammar and werds instead of a puzzling football analogy

Agreed - Bush started a war using intelligence that his administration (and the UK government) knew was discredited and then bullied other countries to give them the minimum support necessary for a UN resolution.

The Iraq war was a complete blunder and waste of lives, Bush started it, Obama continued it, ended it, and is now restarting it...it is a hopeless cause, save the civilians, bomb the terrorists... no more boots on the ground.

I know you do - hence your apparent need to say so for several days in a row...

There are no easy answers to that situation - Bush and Blair shouldn't have started the war, it was wrong and imo a criminal act. As to whether Obama should have walked away from it - how would you even approach that decision? Throw good money (and lives) after bad with no hint of a long-term solution? Stay in Iraq for 15-20-30 years? There was plenty of support for pulling out of Iraq among the voting public. Was it wrong? Hard to say - although I think it's quite insulting that people apparently only now care about the state of Iraq and it's people. Now they can pin the blame on their ideological opponent.

Ultimately, the result is little different from what the US did in Vietnam - make a mess, achieve little and then leave everyone else to pick up the pieces.

What you can say for sure is silly internet memes are not a substitute for the actual debate.

Change the names and you could say the exact same thing about Vietnam. Incidentally, given what the US did in Cambodia during the Vietnam war and what happened after - morally they should putting boots on the ground in Iraq.

Of course, it's never that simple.
