My husband is American and we are currently filling CR-1. My question is simple... could I get denied if my father is forbidden to enter USA? he is very upset I am leaving Canada and he told me: you wont ever be able to get your paper because of my criminal background. I have to say... it is freaking me out! Could it really be the case???

It could.... but unlikely. If he was a drug trafficker and you benefitted by getting money from his illegal activities, then you could be denied. There are probably a few other such examples. But there is no law that a person cannot be related to another criminal to immigrate to the US.

Sounds like he just wants to hurt and scare you.

AOS for my husband

HIs criminal background has no weight on your case. As long as your record is clean, that won't be a problem. You wouldn't be able to petition for him if he is forbidden from entering the US. Other than that you shouldn't worry. Good luck.

Thank you very much all. He never mentioned exactly what is was, I suspect drug traffic, but it was when either I was not born yet or very little. I know he did some time in jail and he has his pardon but... he really scared me on that one. My husband says not to worry about it either. Thank you, you are helpful :) (fyi I have no criminal record)
